I’m very interested in this thread, because I want to do this with my guys but in light grey. I’m thinking the guys would have to buy, and that it would be less expensive than renting because pants and vests aren’t that expensive in comparison to purchasing the whole suit.

We’re started our search at Men’s Warehouse, which i DO NOT reccommend. Maybe try Macys or a local mens clothing store

DO NOT go to Men’s Wearhouse. We just dealt with our local store, which told me that the groomsmen could get the pants/shirt/vest/shoes/tie/cufflinks for $85 rental. However, they weren’t sure what to do about my groom, as he was going to wear the jacket as well for the ceremony.

First they told me that we would have to pay $210 for my groom’s tux rental. Then they said “well we can talk to the higher ups and see what we can do.” They jerked me around for two weeks before finally telling me that they could do nothing for my groom – even with six other tux rentals at $85 each. They wouldn’t even comp my groom (as their ad states) if he just wore the vest combo without a suit coat.

So now I have to start all over again, with only six weeks until the wedding. My bad for letting them jerk me around for a few weeks, but they kept promising me they were “near to a solution” and “moving up the chain of command on an answer.”

We had our guys in just charcoal vests and pants! DH(the tall one with the glasses in the pic) had to get his through Du Bois because he’s so tall but the other three went through JC Penny!  All in all the guys spent around $90 for their outfit (including the white dress shirts!).  I’d say your best bets are there or Macy’s.  Sorry I don’t have any better shots but our wedding was just on Saturday lol, I think they all looked fantastic!

@lunathea:  Your picture isn’t showing up 🙁 We were going to look in Jcp but I don’t know how their ordering would work if they didn’t have a particular size in stock. Did any of your guys have a problem with this? Did they have all your information down for your guys to just go in there and place their order like a typical tux rental plcae?

We did this! The only thing I would say is make sure all your guys fit into the sizes of vests they have with full backs. The BM is a huge guy and also got his vest at another store (we went with mens warehouse and had no issues other than this) but I didn’t find out until he showed up at the wedding that his vest was one of those around the neck and back kind, not a full backed on like the other three guys. :/ But in all 3 of the pictures he is in you can’t really tell.

@Lacelibs:  Huh, I wonder why you can’t see the pic (I can ><).  Two of our gm were able to buy theirs right out of the store, they don’t keep track of info for you so I just forwarded them the picture of the one that we had found that we thought would work.  One guy had to order his online (he didn’t have time to drive to a jcp) and it fit him just fine.

@lunathea:  I can see it now, maybe it just took a few more seconds to load on my computer haha. All your men look very nice! And congrats on your wedding!

@erinchristine24:

Our groom & groomsmen are doing the same thing, we are having a beach wedding. They bought the JCrew Irish Linen Ludlow Suit (vest & pants, with linen shirt, jacket will not be worn at ceremony but I think they bought them anyway for future use) they are also doing boat shoes.

Our bridesmaids are wearing arabella by jcrew dresses in red poppy so the ties are going to be in a red poppy stripe, not sure what my groom is going to do yet about his tie color.

I defiantly recommend going to Macys, or even kohls. Our groomsmen bought suits from Mens Warehouse. BUT I was just at both Macys and Kohls and noticed how some of their suits are really nice quality and looked very simular to what we had bought…only a lot cheaper!
