@happilyeveraftergirl:  I picked my venue because it was gorgeous! haha but seriously, I got the most bang for my buck at the venue I picked. Why? It wasn’t MADE for wedding purposes! The venue was found on a vacation rental site and was so much cheaper than any wedding venue I found. Plus it gave a place for the bridal party to sleep the night before along with family to sleep the night after! It was a 7 bedroom 4 1/2 bath cabin mansion with beautiful grounds! We had no rules reguarding alchohol and got to decorate it in any way I liked (so long as the property was ruined). We got so many compliments and tons of people told us that it was a venue they would remember for a lifetime (some even thought they would like to use it someday). 🙂

@happilyeveraftergirl:  We chose our venue based first on price and what we get out of that price. We found cheaper but they gave you nothing. We also chose based on functionality, a place we didn’t have to decorate too much if we didn’t want to, and offered a place for ceremony and pictures (although the outside wasn’t idea for such, that was the only con).

Sounds like the barn is a better deal out of the 2 to me.

@happilyeveraftergirl:  keep in mind that we did EVERYTHING ourselves and had to use rental companies for everything but in the end it was MUCH cheaper! Plus everything we got was based on our OWN desires! It was tons of work but it was great fun 🙂

We picked our venue because of the location, price & I love it because it has chandeliers! 3 of them! They are so pretty.

I fell in love with the view – fortunately the inclusions (and the fact we went to a few venues that weren’t as nice and costed more) made up for the price tag, and of course fitted the budget. The plus with the inclusions I didn’t have to think too hard between three-four cake makers and celebrants which was nice to not need to stress over all the options 🙂

We haven’t booked anything yet but the ceremony venue we WILL DEFINITELY get married at, is the church I have known I would get married at my whole life. It is where my grandparents (my mother’s parents) and my parents got married, and where one of my aunts and I were christened. So even though at the moment it costs $1500 to get married there and the price will probably increase by the time we book I will do whatever I have to do to get married there. Including the requisite marriage course.

Where I would love to have the reception (although it is pricey) is a golf club my father is a member of. He used to take me there several times when he would play golf, got my exercise that way.
