    So I'm totally bummed and mad and happy for FI at the same time. FI received a letter of acceptance yesterday for an interning professor job at the community college level in the fall. This means there is a verrrry likely chance we will be postponing our 2 week honeymoon to Italy. I'm mad b/c I had told FI to look in to the dates of the program over and over before he applied and he said it would be ok becasue it is only a summer internship but I was not so certain and the application was a little vague on dates so call duh!!! So I told him to call numerous times and he said no; I think either he was being unmotivated to call or he knew deep down inside the program conflicted with honeymoon dates. So we booked the flights and started planning the trip was getting me really excited. Now we are going to be out 4-500 bucks for rescheduling and I'm mpore bummed for thinking I was going to Italy. We probably have to wait until April/March now when it will be more $$$

     Ofcourse I think he should do it, it is a great opportunity and it was sooo competitive to get accepted. Before he applied I even told him if it conflicted with the HM I'm ok with postponing but he said it would be fine. Now his lack of due diligence is costing us money and I could have not been getting excited about the trip. So his mom gave him a good idea to try and setup a meeting with the director of the program to see if he could take the first 2 weeks off in Nov. if not he will tell him he'll just postopone the HM and take the internship.

    This frustrates me sooo much and makes me angry FI always does dumb things like this. His mom says "well he's just like me, don't worry, things just work out sometimes." I say Nooooo you have to work to make things work out and you have to do your HW!

    Just a long vent. I think it would have been super cool to take off the day after the wedding to the most romantic place w/yummy food. thanks for listening );

    I'm sorry you are frustrated.  Maybe he just didn't know how to tell you about it?  I mean it is important for him to get a job and in this economy, there might not have been a lot of other options for him to pursue.  You will get to go on the trip later on and maybe you will have more saved up so you can do more fun things!

    That is incredibly frustrating and disappointing for both of you (although that's great he got this opportunity.) I agree that when it comes to finances, that was stupid of him not to check out the dates since it's costing you both a significant amount of money now that is going to waste...I'm sorry!!! He owes you big-time for this one...

    Thanks I feel it is a great opportunity and not expressing how bummed I am about it but I did express that I was not happy with the way he handled it and he should have listened to me and called. eeek

    That's a bummer - my FH is kind of similar. There's certain things he just won't follow-up on, and I get so frustrated because it's usually the things that impact me. So, I do it instead and when I give him the results, he gets upset because it was "his job" to look into it.

    I just want to smack myself on the forehead and say "well, if it was your job, you should have looked into it right away!"
