Hello Bee's in SoCal,
Help...Inspire...Share with us the VENUE for your ceremony and reception, and give it a score (A+, A, B, C, etc) and WHY you loved the VENUE.
Some of us gals are still looking and need your inspirations/suggestions :)
**Show us some pics**
Thanks for sharing!
Sahar
Well, my wedding is not until nxt year, but the venue I have chosen is Etiwanda Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga. I love this place :"]] You have the option of having the ceremony in the chapel or outside. This place offers a lot of picture moments. And the reception is at the same location. The place is kinda pricey, but beautiful none the less. www.etiwandagardens.com
I got married at the Museum of Contemporary Art San DIego in La Jolla....here are some pics :-)
I have to put a pic of the ceiling in the reception area. I'm a little obsessed with our venue...
@crayfish: WOWWWW that is a gorgeous site!! No wonder you love it and are obsessed :D
Both my ceremony and reception were at the St.Regis in Dana Point. I loved everything about it! It was beautiful, romantic, surprisingly private for a hotel venue, upscale but not pretentious, and the staff were super nice and welcoming. Prices were high but we got a good deal since we got married on a holiday Monday.
@Sahar: Oh! I forgot to rate it! I give it an A+. The event staff was amazzzzing. They were 100% on the ball, and I didn't have to worry about a thing. They bent over backwards, and it showed.
Mine was the Los Angeles Central Library. It was at times a pain to deal with b/c its not really a traditional venue. If I was able to pay more for caterers, etc. much of the headache would have been delegated to them. It was absolutely beatiful though & looked exactly as I imagined.

I'm getting married at the UCI University Club in Irvine!
@FutureMrsMeinhardt: Yay, that's my grad school! I went there with DH last year for the first time after ten years with the excuse of checking out engagement shoot locations :)
@meliss: @FutureMrsMeinhardt: That's my school too: Anteaters Unite!
I'm so inspired by all of your venues :)
@meliss: I love this place! When you say prices were high...how high are we talking about? I thought Sundays that have a Monday holiday are also expensive?
@Sahar: Thanks fellow Anteater! We actually got married on Monday, on Memorial Day, not the Sunday before :) Please me if you're interested and I'll send you more detailed pricing info.
We'll be getting married at the Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton. And yay UCI!! FI and I both graduated from there! :) We'll actually be taking our first look photos there too.
We're getting married at the Spring Field Banquet Center in Fullerton. Since we are getting married on a Sunday (July 3), we are allowed to bring our own alcohol...AND we get the ENTIRE building to ourselves! I'm extremely excited about it!! The menu pp ranges from $25 - $48 in the main ballroom for Fridays and Sundays. The max capacity in the main ballroom is 300. It has high, doomed ceillings with gorgeous chandeliers - VERY romantic!!
Our ceremony will take place at the Norweigan Seamans Church in San Pedro and then our reception is at The Founders Hall in Fountain Valley. It is a city owned property so the price was great and it was built recently so everything is clean and new. They also have a built in dance floor and let you bring in your own alcohol and catering. They also have alot of great extra for rental like a portable bar and an
AV set up for an ipod reception.
We got married in Chapman Chapel in Orange, California:

And our reception was at the Norman P Murray center in Mission Viejo:

Omg there are so many anteaters on this board! I graduated from UCI in 2005. zot zot zot!
We got married in the public observation deck on the Santa Monica Pier and had our reception in there (DJ/dancing) and the attached 2nd floor of Mariasol (a Mexican restaurant.) It was so much fun!! And pretty affordable. Especially for the area. Also, the Mariasol staff took care of renting the observation deck from the city and setting up/tearing down ceremony chairs.
This first one is a pic I found of observation deck online. You can see what a beautiful space it is and the view is incredible. It was painted blue by the time our wedding date rolled around, which I loved.
@moneypenny02: What a stellar venue!!! What are your major gripes about the place? I'd like to know the major problems before this quickly travels up my top choices list :)
DH and I got married in March at the Cal State FUllerton Alumni House (George G. Golleher Alumni House). It was a wonderful garden setting - loved it!
(sorry there's so many "face" pictures of us... it was hard finding pictures of the venue without us in it...lol, for obvious reasons)

Kinda late in posting, but we got married at Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank. I give it an A for the great service, the beautiful surroundings, the impeccable attention to detail, and the professionalism of the staff. Everything went off without a hitch... I LOVED our venue (and our wedding day)!

@bohemianbailie: I like your idea of using city property for a good deal (Founder's Fountain Valley), also my cousin got married at a "senior's center" and the facility was beautiful. I noticed on their website that you are responsible for clean up. Are you planning to have some people stay after the wedding to clean, or come back in the morning?
We booked with Tivoli Too!!
This is a post I did on it!
I'm not married yet, so I can't give you a review, but it could give some ideas...
We booked the Temecula Creek Inn and here is a little photo from when we visited the place. They have 1 indoor and 2 outdoor locations, and we chose the Stonehouse:
Getting hitched at Casa Romantica in San Clemente (my huns and I used to surf at the location the venues overlooks). It's a stunning old Hacienda.
and the reception is at the Center Club in Costa Mesa. It's located at the Orange County performing art center. It's a very special venue, very elegant. :)
So far, the tasting at CC was AMAZING! so A for that and the people there are so helpful and crazy kind and generous, so A there.
The CR is small, and thats kind of a problem, but they seem willing to help make it work. And you have to rent everything so it's kinda pricy. But the location is to die for and it has special meaning for my future hubs and i.
We are getting married at the Franciscan Gardens in San Juan Capistrano :) www.franciscangardens.com A+!
our ceremony was at St. Peter's Italian Catholic Church. Father Raniero was awesome, and it was very affordable for non-parishioners. I really liked that he was so flexible with our music choices. A++

our reception was at Grace E. Simons Lodge; I'd give it an A-/B+. It was affordable; their prices are actually listed on their website. They included tables and chairs and allowed BYO catering but required that we use their contracted bar, which was not the best at getting back to us, but the lodge did what they could to help us get in touch with them. Not everything was listed in the lodge contract, and I only found out when I asked questions about something else. They have a cute Japanese garden for pics. They give you your deposit back if you clean up properly.

We're getting married at SeaCliff Country Club in Huntington Beach. So far, the catering managers have been super fabulous and really accomodating. They were much more affordable any other comparable places in the area.
The Meridian Club through Colettes Catering. It was not my dream, because that would have cost alot the venue was decent. They ran out of chicken, so overall I would say C-
@ddubzz: We're thinking about getting married there! We're going to check it out this weekend. My fiance's worry is because it's "horsey" it will smell "horsey." Did you have this at all?
@electricmayhem:Hi I'm considering this place can you give me more info. I toured it and love the girls they were very nice. If you have any info let me know. Thanks
Getting married in Dana Point Heritage Park and then having wedding dinner @ Salt Creek Grille. Our wedding event is quite intimate w/ 35ppl since I needed to plan in 3 months.
