    Our family friend just offered us a place to stay in Guancaste for our honeymoon...  We are so excited for the honeymoon--- but a little nervous to go to another country and stay by ourselves in a house... Anyone been there before- have suggestions on places to go/things to see?

    I did homestays with people for several months in Costa Rica when I was just out of high school! I went to Guanacaste for a few days with the family I stayed with. It was gorgeous! All of Costa Rica is gorgeous! My (limited) experience with Guanacaste was that it was a bit more "country" than the rest of Costa Rica that I saw (although that could be because the friends we stayed with lived in the country). The beach we went to there lovely and was actually a bit less crowded than some other beaches. I don't remember much about Guanacaste in regards to specific places to go, but if you are renting a car/okay with taking a bus or something I recommend going to Tabacon at least for a day trip-- natural hot springs right at the base of Volcan Arenal, which is constantly pouring out lava!

    Oh yes, Tabacon is a dream. And if it is clear, you can watch the volcano in the distance. Even when it is cloudly, you can hear it, which is also cool. Tabacon can be expensive to stay at the hotel, but they have this amazing natural springs water park. Even if you don't stay at the hotel, yo can get a day pass and hang out there. Really awesome!

    We stayed in the Manual Antonio State Park area at a wonderful All Inclusive;
