I'm so jealous. I'm already hungry and this just made it worse!
mind if i come over? seriously? i could be there in....oh, maybe 8 hours i guess. i LOVE bread pudding. love love love.
Wow - that sounds so good! I've never heard of doing that with donuts!
You would love it at work here, our dessert like everyday is bread pudding! I can't stand the stuff but its definitely popular, and I can sometimes see the sprinkles in there from the donuts from the day before :D
okay so this is going to sound weird, but I have a box of old donuts sitting at home right now and I have been wondering the same thing.... (I hate wasting food)
Please let me know how it turned out and if it goes well put up your measuring directions :)
Well, for my first attempt it's pretty yummy! Next time I'll definitely use cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and evaporated milk like most recipes called for. My guy loves strawberries, so I made a quick little glaze out of sour cream, powdered sugar, and strawberry jam and drizzled that over the doughnut bread pudding while it was still warm. Dee-lish and will go great with the homemade vegetable beef soup I have simmering on the stove.
@mrs.peters.to.be: I'm sorry, but I hardly ever measure things when I cook, unless I'm following a strict recipe. I just tweaked some of the things I saw online, and it worked out, lol. It still turned out really great!
That looks DELISH! I've been craving something sweet like that all day, so I'm definitely jealous! :) Great idea for food that would otherwise be wasted!

Ok, maybe the title of this thread could be worded a bit better, but at least I grabbed your attention, lol.
I've been eyeballing a box of stale doughnuts all day, wondering if I should just toss them out because nobody seemed interested in them anymore. Then I got the bright idea to make a Doughnut Bread Pudding! Found some easy recipes online and managed to whip up my own creation since I didn't have a couple of their ingredients.
It smells HEAVENLY in here! I am literally salivating like a rabid dog, lol.
I cut up the stale glazed doughnuts, added some raisins and chopped nuts, mixed up a custard of eggs, sugar, vanilla, and milk, and I'm now waiting for it to set in the middle. This is my 1st attempt at any kind of bread pudding, but the way it's smelling makes me think I'm going to try some real recipes once the weather starts cooling down more.
