I did :) But I cook all the time and have made roast chicken 1000 times, so it really wasn't that big of a deal for me.
The ring came about 6 months later, but I don't think I can thank the chicken for that ;)
I don't know that I believe in the engagement chicken deal but I do think it is very cute!!!
I have made it for my BF, before we were ready to move to the next step, and he loved it.
I just made it for my family the other day, my BF and I are LDR, and I told my sis that I was making engagement chicken in hopes that the engagement "vibes" would reach my BF, lol, we had a good laugh... after she gave me the "you're crazy" look. Ha ha!
Good luck with yours!!!!!:)
Haha, I did in fact make engagement chicken- almost a year ago with no luck so far! It's really a delicious recipe, so it's a win overall but don't get your hopes up too high- after all, it's just chicken :)
LOL! I've never made it but I cook dinner for my SO all the time...
@MissTM: Maybe an "engagement" fillet mignon would get better results? LOL
I have never heard of this, but I'm definitely going to look it up! Good luck with your E-Chicken!!!
LOL....This is actually what I'm doing for dinner tonite. I have been wanting to make this meal for awhile. Guess great minds think alike!
never heard of this, you cook a chicken and he's supposed to propose?
don't think that would work for my guy. is there engagement pasta?

I'm not gonna lie, I made it twice (once summer 2010 then his birthday back in february). We're not engaged and chicken is his favorite food lol. It probably doesn't hurt to make it though, that was some good chicken :)
@alwaysamaid: there is 'let's make a baby pasta' but that's the only pasta i know about
the 'get him to clean the apartment burgers' are awesome...but they don't work! ha! maybe it's because we live in a house not an apartment...
I made it last night, funnily enough....Crack up :D It was pretty tasty! Never roasted a chicken before, as I was vegetarian for eight years. Yum.
I THOUGHT about making echicken, but he proposed before I ever did. Still be meaning to try the recipe though. Enjoy it and hope it brings you luck!
@alwaysamaid: I think the article I saw it in said guys see it as "the kind of meal a wife would make."
I'm vegetarian, so..... engagement tofurkey? LOL.
I made engagement chicken and we were engaged 2 months later :D
I dont know if it was really the chicken, but we both enjoyed a good meal!
@UsagiTsukino: Ha! I could see the romantic tofurkey now! I think you should start a new magic recipe like "put a ring on it vegetarian chili"!
The chicken was pretty good, not my fav, but still good. It got overshadowed by the side dish (which is his favorite)!
Haha! As soon as I read the name of this thread, I said to myself "Is it ENGAGEMENT CHICKENNN?!" Haha. I would totally make engagement chicken for my boyfriend, because I love to cook, but I kinda screwed myself by telling him about it (because I just learned what it was like two weeks ago). And now if I made it, it would seem really weird. Haha.
@CarolinaCola: hey who cares if it is weird - just say it is marinated chicken instead? Then feed it him then see what happens - haha!
I totally looked up this recipe last night - I LOVE lemon and herb chicken, I may even marry MYSELF if I cooked that!
UPDATE: EXACTLY TWO WEEKS AFTER MAKING ENGAGEMENT CHICKEN I GOT ENGAGED!!!
But I'm pretty sure it wasn't the chicken! He had already been planning for weeks, and actually had the ring for three weeks at that point.
@impatientlypatient: Congrats!! Well, I made it the night before you, so, any day now right?!;) Haha, I don't put a lot of stock in things like luck/superstition/engagement chicken, but it makes for a sweet story huh :D
i will have to go make me some..... it's a win win, yummy dinner and possible proposal? sure why not!
I'm making this for my boyfriend's birthday at the end of the month but I'm expecting a proposal in December so I guess I'm kind of cheating

ENGAGEMENT CHICKEN!
I started as a joke between one of my friends and myself, and then it somehow turned into a bet! I think it is a ridiculous idea (especially since it is really close to the recipe that I always use--and actually made for my SO the first time I cooked for him), but it is a bet I would be really happy to lose!
Anybody ever tried it?
