I actually drafted a mock letter of resignation today, listing everything that is pushing me out the door...totally know how you feel.
Awwwww I'm sorry!
Why don't you start looking around for other jobs?? You shouldn't have to work in an environment where you get so upset everyday.
@realeastcoaster: I could see myself doing that and accidentally sending it to my boss or something LOL
I usually practice mine verbally on the way home from work in the afternoon :) i need my j-o-b til @ least the wedding, haha.
Honeybun you work in advertising? it sounds good to me ;-)
Don't let them/it get you down.
On the bright side, at least the network doesn't block WB! :)
@honeybear: I'm actually thinking about going to nursing school. I have a call in to a counselor at a local college. As soon as she calls me back, I'm going in with my transcripts so we can sit down and figure out what I would need to do as far as classes that would already count from my degree. Soooooooo we'll see!
@ honeybun - maybe that will happen to me, but it would be for the best, lol...
@Melissa: Marketing/Advertising/PR/Events. Anything and everything that can be pushed onto us. There is another company that we are compared to, and everyone wants us to be able to go head to head with all the ads they have in your face, everywhere you go in this town. Their marketing dept. has 70 people - ours has 2 - me and my boss. So I guess I'm doing the job of 35 people. Surprised I'm still halfway sane.
oh, only 35?
YIKES!
Well, think about your sweet resume. List all 35 of those jobs for your next career change!
:( BOO
Hang in there! I hope something works out for you soon.
Also, I am not allowed to complain about doing the work of 3 people anymore!
@honeybun - I've got a friend who works in advertisting and they work her like a mule, her hours are ridiculous and she's not compensated for ridiculous overtime - just absurd. I hear it's common in advertising and related professions for people to just break down. I'm sorry you're having a rough day. I hate my job, too. I also commute 1+ hr here and back - yes, that's right, an hour commute to a job I loathe - and in the car on the way to work and back I often have conversations with myself in which I act out various quitting scenarios. So, yeah, I feel your pain.
Stay strong. I just have to keep telling myself - AT LEAST I HAVE A JOB, AT LEAST I HAVE A JOB. It only goes so far, but it's something, ya know?
@kittyachi: Yeah, I technically work 8-5, but I'm hardly ever out of here before 6. Sometimes 7. No overtime pay though. Lunch is always eaten at your desk while working and if you do actually leave, they make you feel guilty about it. One lady in our office suite, but not in our dept., she gets here at like 7 am and sometimes doesn't leave 'til 9. A lot of times, actually. I could go on, but I'll stop now. I've given up on trying to actually keep up with the amount of crap I have to do. I mean it's not humanly possible, so I don't even feel bad about coming on Weddingbee anymore. There's no way I could get it all done if I sat here and worked every second, every day I'm here. So why try anymore??
And while I don't sound like it haha, I AM grateful to have a job! I do keep telling myself that, but it's just hard. Especially when almost all of my friends (who ironically, are almost all nurses) just gush and gush and gush about how much they love their jobs. I hate them all. LOL j/k. Just for me, love and job in the same sentence - well I just can't comprehend it!
Aww, honeybun - that stinks!! I hope you can go back to school really soon - that sounds like a completely crappy work environment.
@honeybun- yay go you! nursing school would be awesome, I am actually going to be doing something similar! Advertising was my major too and I just dont like it. I guess its just not for everyone. I really hope your day gets better though!
Thanks ladies!!!! Does make me feel SO much better to come on here and vent!
That sucks! I hope that you can find a new place and then tell this company what you really think of them!
Oh honeybun, hang in there! And seriously, nothing is worth emotional turmoil. Do your best right now, and start sending that resume out and work on those nursing school applications. You can do it!!
I'm sorry your having a hard day!! Just think you only have a couple of hours left!! I hope it gets better!
Hey, hang in there! But while you are hanging in there, definately be scouting around for other positions elsewhere. You have to at least LIKE where you spend most of your time every day, otherwise you will go bonkers! Take it from someone who just recently aquired a job that she likes, after 4 years of working under a TYRANT! LOL. I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I found that sometimes the idea of breaking away is as nerve-wracking as the idea of staying, simply because it's familiar, but there comes a time when you tell yourself enough is enough and move on for your health's sake! Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
