Okay, so I’ve got a question from the other side of the fence; a wedding guest query..
Myself and the Fiance have been invited as evening guests (this seems to be a bit of a British thing; basically, we’ll be there for the party afterwards, not for the meal) to a wedding, and I’m struggling with thinking of presents beyond a nice salad spinner..
I work with the bride & whereas I know her a bit, I don’t know that much about what she likes, but I’d still like to get her a nice present.
What would be your favourite presents/gifts you’d like to receive no matter what occasion?
(And do I even need to mention that I’ve not been a guest at a wedding in my whole adult life?)

@Selaen: Find out where they registered at and gift them a gift card?

@Selaen: In my area (and this really is regional), cash is the preferred/normal gift. I’d do a lower amount if only being invited for the later part of the reception.

cash is the norm in my area as well for a wedding, because they can use it on their honeymoon. gifts are ususally given at the bridal shower.

One of my favorite gifts was a beautiful round heavy crystal platter. I used it a thousand times and I still love it. Very generic but I’ve put everything from carrots to filet on it.

Cash is the best gift! I know it seems impersonal but when a couple’s spending thousands on a wedding celebration, they need it. Like a PP said, I would give a bit less since you’re not eating dinner. Maybe $20 – $25 per person in your group?
