Throughout wedding planning I find myself to be VERY indecisive over trivial things.
Hence: the guest book.
I’m ordering this:
It comes in 72, 88, 96, and so on hearts.
We are inviting like 120, but actually expecting maybe 80. But a lot of the guests would only use one heart, if it’s a couple or a family… But what if I run out of hearts..
OMG. Someone tell me how many damn hearts to order, because clearly I cannot make any decisons.

Hm, I think I would go ahead and order the closest number to 120.. even though you are expecting 80. My reasoning is because those heart are small, and some people will probably use more than one heart to write their names.

I didn’t even think of people using more than one heart. Oh god.
This is ridiculous. Stupid hearts….

cls9q: Order the 120, and put out a little sign asking people to start from the bottom up 🙂 Then you can trim any empty rows off the top before framing 🙂

I would definitely order less than you’re expecting. If you’re expecting 80, order the 72. I had a signature tree (a lot like your hearts, but with leaves) for people to sign. I had 108 RSVPs and about 105 showed up. I had the tree made to hold about 100 leaves. Now that it’s all over, there can not possible be more than 30 occupied leaves on that tree – it’s damn near bare. I’d say at least 30-40% of people didn’t sign it at all (even though it was out in the open, with a sign and lots of pens/markers). A couple families of 3-5 people signed “Love, the Smith Family” on just one leaf. No one filled out more than one. I wish I had gone with like 50 leaves so it would have been at least 50% occupied.

We had something similar, had ~160 guests attend, and I ordered the one with 125 spaces. Realistically a lot of people will sign as a couple or a family, and a handful or many will not sign at all.
Another thing to consider – I actually like how ours has a few blank spots. It makes it look less cluttered.

I will order the one with 72! Thank you for helping me!

or you can ask for them to print out extra hearts in red, have guests sign randomly and then you can put the red hearts over any blank ones.

What kind of direction are you planning to give people?
Some people will see that and assume they just sign anywhere, not inside a specific heart. And once one person does it, other people will do that and do the same thing.
If you really want the signature to just be in the hearts you should make that clear to guests. Personally, I think it’d look cute to have the signatures all over, in which case you don’t need to worry about the heart count.

We’re doing this with leaves for our love bird theme. We’re expecting around 300 guests and we ordered one with 285 leaves, we figured it will still look fine if not all the leaves are written on.
