I think a photo book is a great idea! Not only will you have the names of people who were there, but you’ll be able to see pictures of them as well. I don’t think a traditional guest book is necessary.

Nope.  Not necessary.  Your photo booth idea sounds great – I’d say just go with that! 🙂

I have seen photo books used as guest books. They usually have funny little wishes and stories placed in them. So I say “yes” it would work well.

My brother and sister-in-law purchased a custom painting from thegreatcanvas.com of themselves, and then brought a thin paint brush and a small ink jar to the wedding ceremony.

Everyone “painted” their names on the bottom of the painting. it was really beautiful and now hangs in their livingroom (not in a box)! A lot of their/my friends asked about it afterwards… I think they said it was actually cheaper than a lot of the guest books they were looking at.

Friends who did guest books have said: Not worth it/we only looked at it once/don’t know where ours is.

That is a really good idea!  I had no intention of getting a guest book I’d probably never read.  Little did I realize that the photobooth attendant at our wedding made us a scrap book with everyone’s pics (2 copies printed so guests could keep 1) and she had people sign.  It’s been fun to look through everyone’s pics and notes for us.

Photo book is an awesome idea, it was something we def considered.  We ended up going with the fingerprint tree and couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out!  I’m currently looking for a frame and can’t wait to hang it in our home 🙂  We purchased ours through and Etsy seller and it came out so adorable, on the tree it had our initials “carved” in with a heart and the a + sign with our son’s initial….I absolutely adore it!  I love unique ideas for guestbooks as opposed to having a book that will just sit on the shelf
