I’ve not seen the two examples your listed. The first one looks a bit like our fingerprint tree one. That worked well. We’ve had it framed with a wedding photo of us and a reading (about a tree) that my FIL read at our ceremony.  I suppose it depends if you want to display something or not. The second option is more of a keepsake isn’t it?

I vote no on any one large thing that everyone writes something on because all it takes is one sloppy drunk guest to add something inappropriate or horribly written or misspelled to ruin the whole thing and make it undisplayable in your house.  Maybe I’m too much of a perfectionist, and maybe you can trust your guests to be more heartfelt than I would mine, but it’s a risk to consider.

I think between the two I would pick the little cards because I think it’s nice to have the personalized message rather than just have them sign their name. There will be photos of who was there so you don’t really just need a list, you know? Also then if you redecorate you don’t have to worry about it not fitting the new style.

Personally I’m going to go with traditional if anything just because I do like to be able to sit and flip through memory books. My fiancé loves photos of the two of us so I was planning on making my him book of photos of us and call it like ‘before we were wed’ or something for his 30th birthday. And then since the wedding isn’t long afterwards I thought we could put some blank pages into it as well that people can sign.

(Also don’t worry, I’m not getting him a guest book as his only 30th birthday present haha)

kellyjackson395 :  We considered using peachwik but then my FI mentioned that someone could write somthing inappropriate and ruin it. We opted for this, a heart drop guest book.

maebae :  bahahah i feel you on this one. We bought some WPA national park reproduction posters that we’re using. I’ve decided to mat them and have everyone sign the matboard. Plan is to place the matboard in *front* of the glass, with the poster behind it so that no one can accidentally/drunkenly sign the poster itself. I also figured that it someone wrote something really offensive on the mattboard (or fucked it up in some other way), then at the end of the day I can simply just buy a new matboard and we still have the poster that we love.

I am probably doing the little note cards asking for sage advice and going to place a polaroid camera, giving guests the option to take a photo to go with the cards.  I would love to have an album of everyone’s thoughts to look on over the years.
