I am making a guest book quilt for my wedding, and I was just wondering if other people had done this, and what kind of fabric pens work best. I am having both white and black fabric squares, and I mainly want to know what white fabric pens work best on dark fabric, and I also want to know if I can use a fine point silver sharpie on fabris or if it will bleed.

I think this is a great idea. Could you maybe do a few test runs to see. I personally have used and liked silver in the past, but I’ve never tried white.

I attended a wedding recently, and the guests signed squares of fabric with sharpies, so I can’t tell you what fabric pen would work best, but I will offer some advice. Find a way to prevent guests from writing where the seams need to be. Guests wrote all the way to the edges of the squares which means if it was made into a quilt, words would be cut off. You can draw a seam allowance on each square, put up a sign asking people to leave a seam allowance, or iron a seam allowance onto each square.
