when we first created our guest list we were a little nervous that we had 125 guests because we were planning on having approximately 75 guests to cut down on cost. but now two weeks before the wedding our guest list has dwindled to 56 guests. i know the majority couldn't make it because of it being on a sunday and because of travel costs, but i'm starting to worry that our wedding is going to be too small, and that its going to be too quiet, and that no one will be out on the floor dancing, and everyone is going to leave early???

i'm starting to feel really down about it, but i just keep trying to tell myself it really doesn't matter.

if we were having a garden wedding or if our venue were small then maybe i wouldn't feel down. but our wedding is at this beautiful museum which normally hosts weddings of 200+ guests?

Oh, I dream of a 56 person wedding!  I think it is what you make of it, right!  Similar to Miss Cherry Pie's post earlier about guests not being able to make it....grieve about it now, but on your wedding day- really appreciate the love you are surrounded by!

Talk to the reception site coordinator....I bet that he/she has planned parties of all sizes at the museum and will have some ideas on how to manage the space and the flow of the reception so that it feels like just the right size.

maryallison is spot on - there are tricks to setting up the space to accommodate groups of various sizes.  enjoy the space and those who are able to spend the day with you - when all is said and done, you may be glad to have such an intimate wedding.
