Those might be too light, in my opinion. If the bride decides to wear blush it would definitely be too close. To be safe, I would go with something a little darker or with a stronger print.
I do like both styles a lot though :)
@DestinBride85: Thanks I am loving rosettes right now!
@MissBananaBread: Thanks for the opinion! She is in a gorgeous white dress ( my cousin is a bridesmaid so I got a sneak peek off her phone) But I don't really want to risk it. My problem is there are a lot of not so trendy plus size dresses and these styles are really pretty.
Would a floral dress be too much?
I think the first dress would be totally fine... the second one might be a little too light (it's showing up kind of blush-champagne-ish on my monitor, but it could be darker in real life, in which case I'd say its fine!).
@bluebonnet: It is blush with a very light grey underlay. I just love the style and rosettes but it only comes in one colour. I am also wondering if this is appropriate for the wedding? Not formal enough? Too formal?
@stevensgirl: If you know that she's in white, then I think the first one is probably acceptable, and it's super cute :). Also, I think a floral dress would be fine. Even if it's not on the beach, a wedding in Mexico will probably be less formal than your average hometown wedding.
Also, if you want more dresses to look at, I would recommend Forever 21+ (I'm a Forever 21 addict). Here are some more dresses:
Have fun in Mexico!!!
@MissBananaBread: I absolutely love the dress in the 1st link.
@MissBananaBread: Oh, I really like the first one! The bridesmaids are in red, do you think the coral would be too close?
@stevensgirl: I would think it's different enough, especially since that dress has a large non-red print on it.
So, after much debate I decided to try out Macy's (being Canadian I have never stepped foot in a real store and was a bit wary of ordering.) I ended finding a cute green dress that I could accessorize really well... I bookmarked it, it was listed for $90... I checked the link yesterday to see if I still liked it, and it was on sale for $14. I mean COME on!!! So I took the plunge and ordered it! I figure if I get it and hate it, what is $14???
I just saw this thread after browsing the J.Crew sale. If the Macy's option does not work out, I was going to suggest this dress in jalepenjo (avaliable in sz. 16). I think the material would be perfect for a Mexican wedding an the name fits too. Plus, J. Crew is taking an additional 40% off their sale at the moment.

Hello Hive! I am attending a wedding in May, in Cancun,Mexico. The wedding isn't actually going to be on the beach, it will be on a veranda/under a gazebo with a view to the ocean. I am stuck on what to wear! The bridesmaids are in red and the colours are red and purple, so I definitely don't want to be in the same colour. I like the following dresses but not sure if they are too light? Trying to be too close to the bride in colour? Help!! I want it to look pretty but not a heavy fabric it will be warm and flowy enough to party in.... Oh and should add that I am a borderline plus size -aka sometimes into a size 14/16 sometimes just a large/xlarge in a regular store.
