What would be inappropriate?

Wearing red to a wedding isn’t off limits. Is it an evening wedding? I think a wine colored dress (appropriate length and style of course) would be lovely for an evening wedding.

I would say bright red would be the inappropriate choice, if anything! The idea is to avoid an outfit that screams LOOK AT ME, because some people get weird about that. So, no uber short skirts or white or devil-red. If it’s darker red, you should be fine!

Do you have a picture? I think it should be fine though if it’s dark red.

A knee-length ruby red dress sounds appropriate and pretty to me!

That red sounds perfectly find to me. Truthfully if a dress is understated and classy but in a brighter red it may not shout look at me either. Sometimes a black dress that is too short or too tight shouts look at me more than any color.

@star_dust:  Absolutely agree. A classy red dress is one thing, but I have a red dress that I would never in a trillion years wear to a wedding because it’s tight, bright red, and has a big slit up the side.  If I owned the exact same dress in navy blue, I still wouldn’t wear it to a wedding!
