Ladies – I need some advice on providing transportation for guests. We are having probably 30 people or so come in from out of town. Our church and reception location is close by (within a few miles) to the hotels I’ve blocked rooms at, but I still feel like I need to provide transportation to get guests around from place to place that don’t have cars. Taxis are hard to find in my city, so I don’t want them to have to rely on that. Is anyone else doing this? I can’t decide if I should worry about it, or just let them figure it out on their own (rent a car, find a taxi, use the hotel shuttle, etc). What do you think?

As a guest at any wedding, either local or out of the area, I have always been responsible for my own transportation. Generally, anyone who does not have a vehicle of their own will ride with someone else (and make prior arrangements). If you have a ton of extra money to spend on transportation, then go for it. Otherwise, the guests will be able to figure it out on their own.

I agree that guests don’t expect that their transportation would be be taken care of an will make arrangements for themselves. It’s very generous to provide this, but in my area it was at MINIMUM 1500 to rent a bus. (min 4 hours consecutive @700, so I would have needed it to get people to my 2:30 ceremony, and then again to take them home between 9-midnight). So if you have the budget, go for it.

The hotel we suggested for guests has a shuttle to and from the airport. And we are providing a limo service that will go between the wedding and hotel foe people that don’t want to drive. Plus our venue has taxis but the guests have to pay for that on their own.
Since the places aren’t too far from each other you could rent a trolly to take guests. It would make for some cute pictures too!
