Hi there everyone. Thought I’d show you all another of my ‘quirky’ ideas for my wedding.
So I was sitting there thinking to myself what kind of guestbook I would have for my wedding.
I didn’t want a “book”… I’d just stick that on a shelf somewhere, forget about it and eventually lose it accidentally while moving house or something.
Then I saw how some people have a picture of a tree in a frame, and people stick their thumb prints in the branches to represent leaves and then sign beside their thumb print. That was cool, but one of my FI’s friends had that for their wedding, so I obviously didn’t want to seem like I was copying.
Then I heard that some people have a picture of themselves and their Fiance with a lot of white around it where people can write their sentiments and you can hang it on the wall for all to see. But Alex (my FI) really hates having photos taken (we didn’t have very many of us together at the time…. Even though we’d been together for 7 freakin’ years…. Anyway…) so that was ruled out. Plus, I thought that it looked kinda silly anyway.
Then I thought to myself, I’ve always wanted a really big ornate mirror to decorate my house and have always wanted to have one of them “cherry blossom wall decals” in the house too. Searching for the decal on etsy made me come across Monograms for couples that are getting married.
Mirror + blossom decal + monogram + guest’s sentiments on the day of our wedding = one awesome kinda artwork that means something special and will last forever!
Here’s a mock-up that I did when I first thought of it (I drew the blossom decal on word, weird huh?):
I’ve bought this mirror (below) and am getting all those things stuck on. Guests will write their sentiments on there with paint pens. Hell yeah!

That’s an amazing idea! I absolutely love it. Plus this way you can have your decal without putting it on a wall and having to take it off if you ever move.

That is a FANTASTIC idea! Love it!

I think that more people need to see this idea, so I’m commenting again.

This is a great idea! I would most definantly LOVE to do this, not sure if I’ll get around to it though [and we’ve already purchased a guest book!]

@Everdeen: Thanks 🙂 The mirror is to die for too. Plus, this is what the reception room looks like:
It matches so well 🙂

- Wedding: August 2013 - The Liberty House
That goes amazingly with your venue! I would make the decals smaller though, and maybe have them etched on

Oh wow, I never thought of that before. That is a wonderful idea!!!! Good luck!

The only thing to keep in mind (and you may already know, but I am saying so anyway because your mock=up doesn’t adequately address this) is that sometimes when you write something on a mirror, you have two images, and it can look a little bit blurry. If you want to experiment with this, get the mirror you were planning on using, and take a dry-erase marker and experiment with writing things of different sizes. Whether or not you like it, you can just wipe it off with a paper towel afterward.

@EffieTrinket: this is true, I’ll do that, thanks 🙂
