So one of our guest’s birthdays is on our wedding day! The only thing is… this isn’t just some “ordinary” guest however – it was at her birthday party, a few years ago, that my fiance and I actually got talking for the first time. Following that night, we went out for lunch and a movie and the rest is history.
She actually had her birthday on a cruise, and our reception is also on a cruise, for that senitmental reason.
Although she didn’t technically or purposefully “set us up”, I keep thinking that if my fiance or I never went to her party, we wouldn’t have met each other at all.
Is there some special way to acknowledge her birthday on our wedding day, that’s a bit more than a special cupcake/singing happy birthday/dedicating a song to her? Should I get her a gift, and if so, what would be suitable?

@ksus07: definitely get her a gift, nothing wrong with receiving presents for your birthday!

@ksus07: id say get her a gift, maybe a special (small) birthday cake/cupcake and tell everyone that her bday was the reason you guys met etc an sing happy birthday. How special!!!

I’d do a small speech during the cake cutting about how she’s significant to you guys and how much you LOVE her birthday!

@ksus07: I think a gift would be awesome! Or some sort of recognition during your reception!

A cupcake with candle would be lovely, and even a round of “Happy Birthday” might be nice. But a gift? How about a nice card/note instead?

I went a wedding on my birthday this year, and it was lovely. I got a cake and a shout out, and I was with my friends at on open bar and having fun.
Don’t stress. Anything you do to make her feel special will be great.

It would def be nice to mention that story and maybe give her a small gift or something.
