When I started planning, I created accounts at TheKnot and Wedding Channel which came with websites. I never used these - they are blank with the wrong wedding date. Some guests are finding them though (for some reason ignoring the URL we are providing them :(

Is there any way to get rid of these websites? I didn't see this option at either TheKnot or WeddingChannel accounts.

I think Spaganaya had a good idea. Also, have you tried e-mailing the admin's about deleting the sites?

Maybe if you contacted their help department they'd be able to help you take down the site.  If not, I'd just write your new website right on the front page, like:

I thought of just editing the websites to refer guests...sadly, I just found a 3rd fake one - I don't even know which website I used to make it! Does anyone know if the url is ournames.weddings.com, which website was it made from?

I had the same problem with our JCP registry, there's nowhere to delete it from. So just call the help line (they don't normally ask e-mail/pass) and tell them what you want. All I had to do was provide our name, venue date, and current mailing and it gets deleted right away.

[Edit] It's weddingchannel.com Sorry I didn't read it all the way through.

I had to call WeddingChannel to get them to delete the website and registry.  I googled myself to find all the fakey websites so that the only one left was the real one I was updating on brides.com.

I had this happen to me too!  Somebody actually rsvp-ed on our old knot website.  I just went in and change the FI and my names to some random letters, that way when people google us or plug us into the knot, nothing comes up.  There's probably a better way, but this was fast and effective for me :)

Call/email the help desk for each one and have them deactivate the accounts

I've heard the wedding channel one being created if you have a Macys Registry because of their affiliations. I don't know how or why because I have a Macys but I did not have a Wedding Channel site automatically created.

Re The Knot, there's def a way to delete that website. I used to have one and I deleted it. If anything as a last resort just sign into your account go under My Website and UNcheck everything under Visible on site.

This is one reason I use a fake name on every wedding message board I'm on.  If they ask for my real first name, it's 2d.  If they ask for my real last name, it's Bride.  Somehow, our guests never found those sites!

Wow weddingchannel had one for us too, thanks to our Amazon Registry. Thats really gross and annoying. No telling how long its going to take for that to fall out of search results for our names.
