I would look at knot.com.  They have lots of good advice. But really you give a gift to the host(s) that throw any showers/parties for you.  Also you give a gift to your wedding party and your parents at the Rehearsal Dinner.  hope that helps

Frankly I do not worry about that stuff. I am polite all the time but am foregoing much of the etiquette stuff. But I understand it is importnat to some people.

i agree with Vintage.  but if gifting becomes too expensive or impractical then a heart-felt thank you card goes a long way.
