Jbone0327:  I live on the West Coast, but that seems a bit much for two hours.  I’d check into a local college( or music store that provides lessons) and see if there are any band/music majors that are interested  They would have experience of instument & price would be very resonable, besides college students always need extra cash (specify song choices & their attire) The music director would be a good place to start – or might even want the gig.

Try Craigslist. Musicians will, a lot of the time, post their rates right there.

I paid $400 for a wonderful guitarist to play before, during, and after ceremony during  dinner . About 3 hours. I sent his a list of songs and he played them all. He is a music professor at a local college.

I have looked into it in my area and they pay by the hour starting at $100-$200 an hour.

That sounds really high to me, but I don’t know anything about NYC. I paid $225 for 1 hour (seating time, ceremony songs, and recessional/guests dispersing time) from a guy with a pretty impressive guitar career over the last 30 years ( for any DFW bees, I highly recommend him!) so it wasn’t just some rando on Craigslist, but a “real” professional, they can be had at a good price!
