    Okay before I started dating my FI, I always looked down on fantasy sports. When he told me he was into fantasy football I just couldn't picture it (or stop laughing)...

    And now, here I am almost 4 years later drafting my first fantasy football team on nfl.com. There are talks of next season starting a husband/wife league (because the guys don't want their wives cramping their style lol)

    So I'm curious: Has anyone else gotten into fantasy sports or have you picked up any of your FI's hobbies?

    Nope. I tried gaming. I could not make my character on the game run in a straight line for anything. He has picked up a little bit of fashion and reading though. Heh. Tells you who wears the pants in the relationship. hah!

    @eloping: I have no idea what fantasy football is either! I get the sense that my original feelings towards ff guys were correct: most of them are geeks! haha so far 8 of the 11 guys have said "Cool, there's a girl in our draft? That's hot" My FI was like, yeah most of them don't get out much. lol

    My FI is coaching me through each draft pick... watch by the end of the season I'll be so addicted.

    @miss yap: the straight line thing made me laugh!

    My guy hates sports, so I spend time teaching him about FF etc.  He's just not into it.  He plays MMORPG which I'm not into.

    We do have hobbies that overlap, but he leaves the crafting to me for the most part and I leave the carpentry to him.

    @eloping: in our house, he yells at ME to kill things. lol last time there was a spider in the house he kept holding his hand saying "I think it bit me! I think it bit me!" (there's no way it did...) Seriously, he's a guys-guy. It's so hilarious to watch.

    @mrsDG: that's awesome!

    @KMSull: I agree lol! Zzzzzzz.

    My fiance prefers football of the UK nature. He's from England so and we're talking different time zones so I'm VERY happy. The other hobby he loves is cooking & I love baking so we work that in together and it's a great match.

    the Fi just did his football draft this past Sat afternoon and it was through a telephone conference!! OMG...it took 3 hours and of him yelling (partly because he couldn't hear them and partly b/c he just always talks loud-haha)!!  I would never suggest you do it that way...the online drafting is better because it doesn't take as long and people only get 1.5 mins to pick a player...the better way to draft!!

    My BFF did her first football draft last yr (called herself powder puff...cute huh).  She was the only female in that fantasy group!  But this yr she took a break b/c shes planning a wedding too!!  She couldnt manage keeping up with her draft and wedding stuff at the same time!!

    @Recessionista.... we have a whopping great big huntsman spider that visits us every few months and we cant make ourselves kill it or even kick it out of the house. we actually stand there and speak to it! we tell it that the house rules are it can stay in the laundry and its never to come into the bedroom and no making babies and it can stay (insert loser smilie)

    heheh Jingle - thats funny, FF taking up so much time

    @ eloping. Funny about the spider. FH and I have a pet beagle and we like to pretend he has a British accent and have made up conversations with him. Yeah... shouldn't have said that out loud...

    Mr. Bunny doesn't play fantasy sports right now, though he has in the past. He did teach me to play Magic: The Gathering, which, embarrassingly, I really love. I haven't played much for awhile, first because I was planning the wedding and now because I'm working hard on my photography skillz.

    My husband and I were already in the same FF league when we started dating, which has made things interesting.  We're both super competitive, so we always have side-bets on the week that we face off against each other.  (Like the loser has to clean the cat-box that week or whatever).  I don't know if I've picked up any of his hobbies, but he has picked up a couple of mine--he's tried out pilates with me and really liked it.

    My FI is a total baseball geek.  Like keeping score at the game kind of geek.  I love it!  He got me into a fantasy Baseball league, so we are starting playoffs next week!  We both like football, but not enough to do the fantasy football thing.

    My FI does fantasy baseball AND fantasy football. He is in two separate fantasy football leagues and had two full nights of drafts last week. We just got a second cable box put in bc I cannot be forced to watch football all the time. I just don't get it. Can't follow it. Don't care about it. He loves it, though, and to be honest I'm glad we don't share that because it gives me some alone or girl time when he goes to watch football with his buddies at the bar or their apartments. I'll happily be a football widow. Our apartment is cramped and a little private time sometime is sooooooooooooo nice.

    Lol. A hobby I picked up of his .... eating junk food ... wish I never picked that one up. I grew up with a health freak mother and she wouldn't feed me junk food or let me buy it ...

    He loves candy ... like starbursts haha

    My FH is teaching me to golf.  I went with him thinking I would hate it and then ate my words and asked for a set of my own clubs!  Now we go whenever we have the time and I LOVE it!  Even though I still ask what club to use on almost every stroke, I al slowly learning.

    I now play in FI's fantasy football league, but I lose every year.  So sad.  Of course, every year I promise I am going to research and finally get good at it, but it never happens.  So, I guess I kinda deserve to lose.

    I also picked up FI's wine hobby.  (Yes, I am calling it a hobby.  If only it were a career!)  I never really drank the stuff until he taught me to appreciate it.  Now we have quite the collection.

    Since we started dating, nearly 5 years ago I have watched thing that I never had interest in, and wound up loving them (well, most). Titles include:

    EVERY SINGLE STAR WARS MOVIE (he looooves star wars)

    Lord of the Rings (extended version of all 3 movies...)

    Star Trek, Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long blog (which is hilarious!), MST3k (mystery science theater 3000), and many more dorky things that come with loving a nerd...

    I love my nerd <3

    I did this year's FF with my fiance because their league or whatever was 1 player short, so I offered to take up space.  Fiance loved doing the draft side by side and getting his head rubbed....he has it so good!  He is very gracious about shopping with me, so I think we're even!

    My fiance is into basketball and I am really into football. I play FF with my co-workers every year. So this year he decided to join a league with his co-workers. He didn't do the best job drafting his team but it is cool that he is getting into something that I like. Gives us one more thing to discuss. In return...I watch basketball with him...but only during the playoffs =)

    I hate football so he has to watch that when i'm not around!

    We both love college basketball so when March Madness comes around, we do the brackets and make a bet with each other. We also watch pro tennis together.

    I almost made a fantasy team this year, but he said I would be on my own & I don't know any of the people! haha. He loves all sports & fantasy sports & such. I've started playing softball again since I've met him,which is nice. I started getting into football,which I absolutely hated a couple years ago!

    Great topic...I LOVE football. I'm a huuuge Giants fan and I think I'm actually more into my fantasy team that my Fi is. We've done a fantasy league with a group of friends for the last few years and its always a ton of fun.

    Bicycling.  I hadn't ridden a bike since I was 9.  He's really into it so I have started tooling around a bit on a bike I bought and I go to spinning to improve my endurance (burns a lot of calories and is low impact so that is a huge bonus).  He very sweetly purchased a tandem bike so we could ride together and we have had some lovely rides on that -- my favorite was through wine country with some friends that also own a tandem.  In general, my lifestyle is healthier because of his influence -- I exercise more and eat a lot less junk food (though I still love it).
