Sorry for this being a little un-feminist…
This weekend I was in camper with 3 boys (including SO) and the other boys kinda assumed since I’m a girl— i would keep them fed. i don’t have much experience with cooking, but i tried and was pretty dang good. It was so cute to me, and I really enjoyed saying things like “get out of my kitchen!” and “wash up boys, you’re filthy”. (lol) I loved taking care of them in a way they needed me to. I kept them fed, the camper cleaned, and took care of all their scratches/cuts from working outside all day
The boys seemed kinda jealous that SO had found a girl who loves the outdoors (read: won’t be mad at them for going hunting- in fact I want to go with them), plus loves to cook for them. I was pretty proud to be that girl. I had no idea I would love acting “wife-y” so much, since it seems a little out of character for me. I’m not very girly. but it was fun, and I can’t wait to do it again! I may even bring an apron next time 😉
he loves the song “country boy can survive”- and the part where he sings ‘i live out in the woods you see. my woman, my kids, my dogs, and me.’
SO is so sweet, and usually does our cooking for us. He’s so handy with grilling and all, and never “expects” me to cook for him or do his laundry. In fact, he is way more particular with clothes than me. but when we get married, I will be happy to take care of him more and take over some of those traditional roles
sorry for being totally un-feminist. i’m really not trying to set women back 40 years lol, but i had no idea I would love being the “woman” so much!! 🙂
ready for the waiting to be over

I absolutely love love love you for posting this. I had a similar experience with similar feelings. Although I’m not a great cook either, I really enjoyed taking care of my man as well as my campers.
So excited for you. Does this mean you’ll be doing it more often or was it a treat type thing?

Cute! And it’s not un feminist lol, you have the right to do what you want and you found something that you like, it feels good being the Mrs!

Lol reading this totally reminded me of Wendy and the lost boys in Peter pan! Do your SO’s friends have girlfriends/wives? Be prepared for some dirty looks when they go bragging about how awesome you were hahahaha! Glad you had a good time 🙂

thanks all! I will definitely try to do it more, and not make it just for a “treat”. but SO is currently living at home, which makes it a little difficult to cook for him, help with the laundry/cleaning/whatever. I’m gonna try to wedge myself in there a little, being the one to pack us up for camping trips or whatever I can 😉
He will be moving out within the year, and that should definitely help my cause! Right now, his mama might feel a little threatened if I start butting in too much lol

Haha I don’t think that being domestic is “un-feminist” at all. I loooove cleaning/cooking/taking care of my man. I love making his friends think “Oh wow I hope I find a woman that takes care of me like that and is that laid back!” The only point that would get un-feminist is if he was making you do those things and you felt like his servant. Being domestic can be really fun, though. Especially when you have a guy/his friends who appreciate it : ) Sounds like a fun trip!
