I think it’s different for everyone, but I got pregnant one month after having mine removed.  We waited one cycle after the removal, and thengot pregnant immediately.

It took me 16 months, but I’m also 41 and was having wonky cycles even before having it inserted. The only thing it did was make my symptoms disappear, but the underlying issue was still there and came back once it was removed.

i had my mirena in for about 4 years before i decided to have it removed. i took my mirena out sep 2012 and we were pregnant dec 2012 =) i researched the topic a great deal before taking the mirena out in order to “time” our pregnancy…. i assumed that it would take at least 1 year to get pregnant based on the responses i read, but ummm yah that was totally off for me lol! i guess every1 is different…

This is super interesting, so glad you asked this! DH and I were just talking about this yesterday. I’ve sort of decided that I might like to take my Mirena out next summer (after 4 years) and then chart until we TTC. I know they told us that we could theoretically concieve immediately after removal, but I’ll have been on hormonal bc at that point for a decade.

I sort of want to be able to see if my periods regularize and what not so that when we are actually ready to TTC, we won’t have to wait around.

I got off Mirena in November and started on the pill (that I was throwing up making it uneffective but I didnt realize this) Got my pregnant with my daughter in Feburary and had her 1 year to the day that I got my Mirena taken out.

I had the copper IUD, Paraguard, so I didn’t vote but…

I had mine removed in November, used the Nuvaring for two cycles and got pregnant on our second cycle of TTC (February).

I’m just replying to say thanks for posting the poll…I had my mirena out in Feb, I’ll let  you know if I have any luck! (I had mine surgically removed and several other procedures at the same time, so I knew I wouldn’t conceive on the first cycle. Charting like crazy now!)

Definitely different for everyone, most I know did in a few months. One coworker took 2 years, but she was over 35. And I personally know a few who got pregnant on Mirena! ha

@camerina:  haha. Of course you’re not the only one. Good luck though!
