I’m getting married in TEN freaking days! I just did my hair & makeup trial today and I’m unsure about the results. Here’s the inspiration for makeup I showed her:
Here’s what I ended up looking like:
And just for reference, me without makeup:
I’m having issues with the lip colour she used on me, do you think I should go with a more pronounced lip or keep it nude? I’m having a really hard time getting over the fact that the makeup she did looks SUPER heavy in natural light in person, but shows up looking pretty good in photos. Is there a happy medium? I mean, I don’t want guests to walk up to me and think “WOAH that’s a lot of makeup”

@MissGemini: I think you look beautiful, but if you didn’t feel confident in the makeup I’d recommend a change. You should feel like a million bucks on your wedding day, and you’re gorgeous so that shouldn’t be hard to do 🙂

You look so lovely! Big differences I see between the inspiration photo and your trial make up are that the inspiration photo has more of a winged cat eye eyeliner than your MUA did on you. Did you want that?
The other big thing I think is that the inspiration photo has a lot more highlight on the cheekbones and under the eyebrow than your MUA applied on you. I think you’ll need more highlight to keep the heavy make up from appearing muddy in photos.
I’d go for a bold lip if you are foregoing the dramatic cat eye, but I LOVE bold lip colors.
I think you might want to find a slightly different neutral if you go that direction (and neatral would also be lovely, especially with a more dramatic eye). Maybe try something a smidge darker and more pinkish?

@jennmariee: Thank you – you are too sweet! You’re right, I don’t want to settle, I’ll get her to make some changes on the wedding day.
@Pepperwoodsy: Thanks so much for your thoughts, I totally agree – I think I’ll ask for more contouring/highlighting on the wedding day and maybe bolder liner!

I honestly didn’t think you had lip color on until I saw you WITHOUT makeup!
You’re very pretty so you don’t need a lot of makeup lucky girl! BUT, looking at your inspiration photo…big difference from what was achieved.
Go either 1) darker OR 2) glossier, as in the pic. Just my opinion-you want to stand out more in your pics!

@veryberry13: Thank you!! I just can’t believe the difference between makeup in person and in photos, in the photos I posted it doesn’t look like much but in person I felt SO made up!

I would definitely go darker on the lip, especially for a fall wedding. Not much darker though. Good luck 🙂

I think that you look better without make up, very pretty! I am not a big fan of the lip colour she used on you – maybe you are going for a look that doesn’t suit you?

i agree you need darker/more winged liner – maybe some false lashes?

@MissGemini: I would make your lips a bit more pink.

I really like the make up (though you are very pretty w/o it also) and don’t think it is too much ( at least not in the photo). I would give the lip colour some more tries though, it doesn’t look like it is the right shade for you (probably a bit more pinkish or gloss like others suggested would help?)

Looks great! I personally think you look gorgeous without makeup! 🙂

Thanks ladies! I’m definitely going to play around with lip colour today to see if I can find a shade that suits me better!
@peonyinlove: I didn’t get any false eyelashes put on for the trial, but I think you’re right – I’ll probably ask her to add individual lashes on the day!

I’d definitely go darker, especially since it’s the fall – but I love dark lips regardless and wear them almost year-round.
And I’m afraid that makeup that photographs well tend to look heavy in real life. Oh well! The pictures will last a long time!

@MissGemini: i think is perfect, they eyes arnt that bold so i feel the lips should be on the same tone…and they look great, it looks like they all go together and with the simplicity of that hair, your going to shine all night!
