Went to our tasting today, they way they do it at our venue is when they are open for lunch you go in and just order from the menu (a full meal, salad/dessert etc) and they comp it. My Fiance couldn’t make it so I brought a girlfriend and they actually also let me take home a full meal for Fiance. I got the Chateau Briand w/wine demi glace (which was a definite on our picks), salmon for Fiance, and my friend ordered filet of sole w/seafood newburg. They didn’t have a full menu of the dinner choices but all three of these were awesome! I ordered mine med-rare and it was perfect, the meals came with mashed potatoes (surprisingly really good) and sauteed green beans w/almonds.
Dessert, I got an ice cream eclair which was basically a puff pastry with a scoop of ice cream, choc syrup drizzled over it and whipped cream and a strawberry on top. Friend got ice cream almondine which was good but really strong–I think the almond must have been liqueur like Amaretto or something.
Not really worried about dessert though because we have the Viennese hour so that has a little of everything.
All in all, I’m really pleased with the quality of everything so I feel that whatever we choose for the main courses will be excellent. Thinking it will be Chateau Briand, Grilled Tuna w/citrus lemon butter, chicken something or roast duck a l’orange, and either jumbo shrimp scampi or the filet of sole stuffed w/seafood newburg.
What would you prefer of the following (since the Chateau Briand and Grilled Tuna are definites)?
Grilled Caribbean Jerk Chicken w/Mango and Pineapple Salsa
Chicken Cordon Bleu
Chicken Wellington (that’s in a puff pastry)
Chicken Sorrentino (that’s Italian w/marinara sauce, prociutto, mozzarella)
Chicken Francaise (that’s w/lemony white wine butter sauce)
Herb Roasted Chicken
Duck a l’orange
Seafood or Veggie:
Filet of Sole stuffed with seafood Newburg
Broiled Filet of Norwegian Salmon
Jumbo Shrimp Scampi
Roasted Vegetable Ravioli
