my mom just called me to ask if it would be "totally out of the question" to have EDIBLE FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS as the centerpieces for the wedding.

    seriously.

one i already told her i want candles - like the tall water filled ones with lots of candles in and around them for that intimate look.

two - i hate fruit and i think those edible arrangement things are SUPER tacky not to mention way too expensive for what they are - dipped fruit in chocolate.

    WHAT WAS SHE THINKING!?

Haha, WOW :) I would tell her no, and remind her of the look you're going for that you've already discussed. I'd then send her an edible arrangement for her to enjoy all by herself :)

HAHA WOW! I also told my grandma I wanted floating candles, something pretty and simple. The other day she calls me and asks if I would like pink tulips??? My girls are carrying roses.. and I don't even really like tulips... Apparently she already bought the vases and tulips so i guess I just have to deal with it.

...I am just imagining buckets filled with sticks b/c all of the arrangements have been eaten...LOL. This before the bride and groom is even announced.

    Whoa!  Fruit centerpieces sound AWESOME.

Then again, BF and I have contemplated having a fondue set at every table as the centerpiece.

Speaking of drunken sword-fighting, I also plan to hide a few nerf swords, maybe give them out the kids (old and young).   "You must best me in battle before I am to be your bride!"

Ok, rambling craziness aside.  If you've already got your look/style and don't care for fruit, then yes, it is an odd suggestion.  So yeah, at that point, totally out of the question.  Sorry ma, I've got that taken care of.

    Mmmm i like edible fruit!

Not necessarily for a wedding centerpiece though. Unless it's super casual outdoor kind of a thing. Even then. Pretty for 5 seconds, munched down in 10.

yeah if we were doing that type of wedding it woudl be fine - but the ceremony is in a historical chapel, and the reception and cocktail hour is in an expensive golf club - its black tie optional .... the fruit is a no go ....

i love my mom but sometimes... LOL

and by the way @surkim - LMAO at the nerf swords - that would be SUCH a bad idea at our wedding because FH and all the boys would be taking over the dance floor doing duels LOL

1.) they're not that tacky! i love getting them :) i love fruit and i love chocolate and the ones i've gotten were in really pretty vases.

2.) hahahaha awww edible arrangements are just totally not something to do for centerpieces!! moms forget it's 2010 sometimes, like my mom. she keeps saying i have expensive taste and my wedding is costing "way too much" when in reality that couldn't be further from the truth considering how much the average wedding costs in california! shes stuck in 1986 when she got married and she was able to have a wedding for under $1,000! this post cracked me up because like i said its just something my mom would suggest! lol
