Today, I walked into an Aveda salon and made an appointment for a TRIM and color (highlights) a month from my wedding. I am super excited and went with an unfamiliar salon because of the aveda options. So here is my issue. I am going to be adament about a trim because I am growing my hair out to give me more pull back. I don’t want any sort of significant shaping because of styling but I will risk highlights. Is this OK – is it good to do a month in advance?

@MrsDogMama: my hairdresser has been giving me ‘dustings’ for the last few months as I grow it out. I HATE my haircut at the moment because it’s all one length and it’s blunt and awful but it’s for a good cause.
If you don’t usually highlight I wouldn’t try something new a month before the wedding. If you’re having your roots touched up, I wouldn’t go with somewhere new…

I wouldnt try something new. If you have a place or hairdresser that you have been happy with, stick there. Its always hard trying a new salon because you dont know the quality!

Also, a trim means about an inch. If you want less it’s called a “dusting.” Strange, huh?
