So like most of you, I am a DIY bride. I had assumed I would be DIY’ing my hair and make up. However its beginning to freak me out. I tried doing my own fake eyelashes and i ended up with eyes full of tears and glue. my hair is really really long, so I’m worried my curls that I do with my target curling iron willl all out before our ceremony even starts (we take pics 2 hours before). i want a natural look so i know its do-able at home but i’m beginning to wonder if its worth the $200 to get a professional to do it. I would love other bride’s opinions, suggestions, or experiences! THanks!

Looks like you got time to practice…..but if it’s really starting to worry you, just find a pro.

I would at least go to a salon and get your hair done. It can’t be more than $75, and you don’t need the stress of worrying about this. How terrible it would be if your hair didn’t turn out how you want, and everytime you look at pictures you think, if only I had paid to get my hair done. You only get married once, and all eyes will be on you. If you can swing it, I’d get my hair done.

@MrsTVLover: I completely agree!

I did both myself but I’m pretty experienced. If you’re that worried, hire someone. It doesn’t have to be a professional. If you have a friend, whose makeup skills you admire, see if she will help you out. Is there a cosmetology school in your area? If so, they’re pretty cheap.

This is one thing I’m not DIYing! I SUCK at doing my hair and I’m only really comfortable with a little bit of makeup… So I’m hiring the pros!

I got a professional, I would be so disappointed if my hair looked awful on my wedding day and I didn’t have a professional to make it look nice. Maybe give yourself a cut off date to get it just right. If you have until June 2013, then practice on your own until December or January and if you don’t have it down by then you can start looking for a professional.
If you are looking to keep expenses down, then you can look for 50/50 deals. Right now in my area, there is a salon that is offering $50 gift certificates for $5! 90% off! The updos at that salon is $65, so it would cost a total of $15 out of pocket.

I agree, I am a pand make up artist and I’m not even doing my make up or hair on my big day. I’d rather have some one else take care of it who knows what there doing than stress out about it being perfect and photo ready which is so much more work than most people really think
