Hi!
I was kinda excited when I saw your post, because I live in Brecksville! I have heard really good things about Bella Toccare, I know a couple people who get their hair done there and the stylists are always wonderful.
Another place to consider is the Dana Lauren salon, which is on Brecksville Road, but more north, in the center of Independence. I know a girl who works there, and it is a family (mother/daughter) run place and the stylists are always on top of the latest trends.
A third place to try is Miracles on Stadium. It has only two stylists (one is the owner) and is actually in what was a old house. It's absolutely charming, and you will probably be the only one in there, but a ton of people I know go there (including me!). It's located on Stadium drive, the same street as Brecksville Theatre on the Square and the gazebo, but down the hill. (Across the road from Starbucks).
Oh and you're at the Renaissance! So I'm guessing you are having L'Nique Linens do your linens? Aren't they the best?
If you have any other questions, please ask!
hi all -- had to jump in because my parents also live in brecksville and i'm getting married in may '09! i live in nyc, though, so it's hard planning and i have almost no familiarity with the area anymore -- haven't really lived here since my first year after college, 1996. anyway -- just wanted to say hi! (my cousin is doing my hair for my wedding.) we're getting married at manor house, at squire valleevue farm.
Oh, I wanted to write back since I had my makeup done at Bella Tocare this past weekend for my makeup trial -- my mom scheduled it for me because it was close to the house and because they advertised "bridal looks." I showed up and was SHOCKED to see that they ONLY use Aveda products -- which for makeup I've found don't last well, and from what I've read of the kind of makeup you should get if you'll be photographed, they don't really have any of those properties (NO shimmer, mattifying, etc). Oh, and nothing was available in waterproof.
I had brought my own makeup that day anyway -- I thought I coudl show it to the girl and then she could take me to the "next" level with the kind of makeup that would last/be waterproof/be good for photographs -- but all she had was Aveda, so we wound up using my own makeup. I was really happy with the job she did, though (Jackie), so I will be going back for my wedding day (but I'll be making a big trip to Sephora first).
Oh, and they don't tell you this but if you want to use false eyelashes you have to buy your own and bring them.
Hey, I'm so glad I am online right now or I totallly would have missed this post! Good thing I'm an avid board-watcher :) Thanks so much for the tip! I ended up booking at Bella Toccare, but I am having Jason Kelly (who does the CAVS girls makeup and is apparently quite well-known for makeup in Cleveland) do my makeup. Some of my BMs are having Bella Toccare do their makeup, and Bella Toccare is letting us bring Jason in to do mine, my mom's, MOH, and anyone else's. (Jason is more exp than Bella, so the girls are choosing between Bella or him). So I'm grateful they're letting me bring him or I wouldn't have scheduled with them.
What about your hair? I am having a trial with Angela there in June, when I am home next. Are you doing your hair there? Are they good? I'm nervous.
My cousin is a stylist at Enzo's, on State Road -- she's doing my hair. We did the trial run on Saturday before my bridal shower and I was SO thrilled with it -- I just wanted long, loose, waves -- took a long time to do but it lasted all day (I even woke up with curly hair, and that never happens) and made me feel absolutely beautiful. I'm sure she could do anything, though, she's really talented -- her name is Alisa. I could get the phone # if you like...

Hi Clevelanders!
I'm new to this board and have a question for you all!! I'm born and raised in Cleveland but I have lived in Boston for the past 6 or 7 years and don't have a hair stylist in Cleveland! My wedding is this summer and I've already done 3 hair trials at 3 places (Dino Palmieri's on W. 6th, Mario's in Aurora, and Marengo Spa). I hated the first two, and did like Marengo (Henri was great) but I am afraid of booking there because I've read online that they've disappeared from other locations due to not paying rent, without warning. It also was very dead when I was there, I think I was the only person there.
So my question is does anyone have any good recommendations for hair/makeup places/people? Our wedding is at the Renaissance, my parents live in Brecksville, so I was hoping to go somewhere not too out of the way. I might try Bella Toccare in Brecksville, has anyone been for this? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks!
