That sounds crazy! I’m around 500 for me, 4 BMs, 2 moms, and my aunt. Is that at a salon or on location? I found on location is almost double.

In South Florida, it is typically $65++ for hair and $55++ for makeup (bridal party). Brides are usually 100++ hair and 100++ makeup

I suppose this varies a lot by location but that sounds quite expensive. Around here it was about $250 for the bride’s hair and makeup (including trials), and the BM’s were around $100 total.

Oh yeah. My hair and make up is costing me ~800 for me, 2 bms and my mom not including tip. That didn’t count my trial, which cost another 200 bucks with tip.

Pretty ain’t cheap that’s for damn sure.

Mine will be $825 for airbrush makeup and hair for myself (trial, day of, and 1 wedding shoot), and hair and makeup for my 2 BMs the day of. Instead of doing one of her packages, she just let me do things by service, so $175 of the total was for the trial, another $175 for the wedding shoot.

Do you have a cosmetology school close to where you live? I know one close to me that has bridal packages for the bride, bridesmaids, mmob, etc at a pretty low cost. Also maybe try classified ads for stylists who are looking to make some money on the side.

I am a make-up artist and an easy way to cut costs is going to a quality beauty school in your area and hiring someone. Students usually work for less because they are looking to build their resume and their portfolio.  Also, a lot of times the school will let you sit in on a class so you get an idea of their work. Or you can go to a MAC store/macys/sephora and they do full face make-up. There is usually a minimum you have to purchase in items ($50 or 3 items usually), but its nice because the girls get to keep some items used. Most people will purchase powder, lip color, and the lashes to cover the requirement.

Well.. when I get my hair cut (I do this about 3x a year) it costs upwards of $150 with a deep conditioning treatment and a nice tip. I go to an expensive place, though and have a senior stylist. I think their wedding hairdos all start around $100. Really depends where you live and what type of salon you go to. I am not sure I’d want a beauty school doing my wedding. I’ve heard plenty of horror stories. If you’re doing the whole fancy wedding shebang, hair and makeup probably isn’t a good place to cheap out on IMO.

@futureAuD:  To answer your original question, I wouldn’t book someone without talking to them first.

That price sounds about right.  I was suprised that the consultation wasnt free also, but I gues when I think about it, it kind of makes sense.  I mean, if they did free consultations and trials, they would probably be out a LOT of time, and not make a lot.  People could just say they were getting married and meet for a trial for fun or take advantage for a special event or seomthing.

My hair was $75-100 and my makeup was $100. For BMs, hair was $55-65 and makeup was $80 for air brush.
