I regret it now, but our wedding is 2 hours away. I want to get my hair and makeup squared away, as well as the cake. I’d prefer to have these vendors local, as the rest of ours are from our area and are traveling and thus more $$$.
My DOC recommended a spa that’s in a hotel and it does everything – hair, makeup, nails, treatments, you name it. However, there aren’t any examples of their work for me to look at. Their prices are quite good – $65 for wedding updo, $40 for makeup.
So do I drive up there on a random day for the sole purpose of getting my hair and makeup done? I feel like I should do it soon, because if I’m not happy with it I have to figure something else out. This place is the middle of nowhere so the spa is the only thing around, according to my DOC.
Anyone else in a similar situation?

OMG! When I read it, I thought you were a bride asking what to do with her hair and makeup because she was getting married in 2 hours! hahaha (that’s my crappy English knowledge…)
I would say that, either drive there to have a trial or ask them if they can drive to you to do that trial session.
Another option would be to find a hairdresser/make up artist from the area you are getting married at that can style you at your hotel/their house? I’m sure that if you do a little research you will find amazing people on that area!

@newcitylights: Haha, I thought your wedding was in 2 hours too. I was going to say “uh, go to the grocery store QUICK for a cake and do your own h&m!!”
If you are ok with driving up for a day, go for it. Are you comfortable doing your own hair and makeup? You can go on youtube for some great tutorials and practice until it’s perfect.

I would drive 2 hours for the trial.. You might have a style in mind that won’t work with your hair type, or one that takes extra time you haven’t accounted for.. You don’t want to be blindsided with that on your wedding day.
Our wedding is about an hour and a half from where we live (we moved across the state, and we’re getting married in the area of our home town).. I try to plan things all on the same day when I have ‘wedding things” to address. You could get your trial hair and makup and coordinate it with a cake tasting.. bring one of your bridesmaids and make a fun day of it maybe!
