I’m paying $475 for just me. It sounds like what I encountered… Makeup and hair was the hardest vendor for me to book! Prices up here are ridiculous.

I think around $400 is reasonable, even if they have to travel a little bit. My mom owns a salon so she is bringing a girl with her to do our hair and we are DIY make-up. In my area hair and make-up for bride and one bm is $425 and it is considered an expensive area. Can’t imagine why they are charging so much. Keep scouring the internet! What do you think of checking out beauty schools?

I paid $45 each for hair (7 people total) and my stylist did my makeup as a gift. I used my regular stylist and she did an amazing job. Do you have a regular hair dresser that could do it or recommend someone?

Also ask other married friends who did their hair/makeup and if they recommend them. I didnt have to shop around because it was a given that my girl would do it, but in my experience as a bridesmaid/bride, $45 per updo is about average. The prices you are finding sound outrageous!!

I used Amber from Make-up Memories for onsite hair and Courtney Shampaine for onsite make-up. Both are based in Annapolis, but will travel for a fee. They were $200 per service for trial + day-of. Everyone else in my party was $85 per service. They were some of the best money I spent and I couldn’t recommend them more.

For a somewhat less expensive alternative, my friend used Andrea Edwards (based out of Cavallaro in Columbia, but she runs a side business for onsite hair and has a partner for make-up) and they were also fantastic to work with.

Oh, no way! I spent $400-something for me and two-MOHs for hair and makeup (including two w/false eyelashes) at my hair salon. They probably would have travelled if I’d been willing to pay for it.

You’ll also save some if you go directly to a salon, versus having someone travel. Check wedding wire.

@PS012:  For us, salon was ideal- we “took over” the place. 🙂   Your hair and makeup will/should last ALL day (I had to use three makeup wipes, and spend five minutes trying to brush out my hair). The only thing I touched up all night was my lipstick. I went to Sephora beforehand to decide on a lipstick color, so I’d have it for my touchups. My hair dresser also put netting on two of our hairstyles, specifically to help set them.
