I did.  I figure it’s the same, she is using her time just as she would for any hair service.  Plus I want her happy on the day of so she does a good job! 🙂

I’m glad you asked.  I would love to hear what others think.  I’m doing my makeup trial on Tuesday.  My plan is to tip her 20% for her time.

I’d treat it like any other beauty appointment. 15-20% sounds reasonable.

I’ll be honest and say I forgot cash and I had paid online ahead of time, so I didn’t tip her. 🙁

That said, I plan to make it up to her the day of, not that she knows that yet!

I paid her for the trial and day of makeup at the trial and I included a 20% tip for the total amount. I didn’t want to have to worry about money on the day of so I gave my dad cheques for the other vendors and paid makeup and hair at the trials.

It’s customary to tip for any service, trial or not. 15-20%

You should tip for any service (unless the person works for him/herself), and I’d recommend 18-20%.

Yes, tip.  She’s providing a service.

Hmm I didn’t tip and now I’m wondering if that was bad.

Both my MUA and Hair Stylist worked for themselves and came to the venue. I had read that both of these meant a tip was not necessary. I did have to pay a hefty travel fee for both to cover all their expenses though.

I guess I could always send a tip after the fact with a thank you card!

Hair and makeup is a service industry. If you liked, loved, and appreciated a person and their services – then by all means, tip as much as you’d like!

Ugh. This tread makes me feel aweful. The first time I ever got my hair cut without my mother, I did not tip. I didn’t know!!!! I felt so bad when my mom asked if I had tipped the lady. And this was like ten years ago.

Tip her. You’ll never forget if you don’t!!

@mrsSonthebeach:  See I was wondering this myself…I tipped both for the trials, but on the day of my mom paid and I was supposed to leave the tip…well I forgot that bag at home with all my personals (wallet, ID, yada yada) .  They both work for themselves though…not sure what to do now…

@Treejewel19:  I’m thinking about doing that…sending a Thank You with a tip in it.
