I would say:
(1) DEFINITELY fingertip or longer
(2) can't see the hem of your dress but I would say no trims on the veil
(3) definitely not "poufy" -- try something different from bridal illusion (for example, English netting)
I would suggest either a flower, or a fingertip veil that is very simple (i.e no lace trim, maybe a thin ribbon).
P.S. Your dress is STUNNING!
You look so happy! I am so not the one to give advice but for some reason I see one of those old fashioned mantilla (is that what they are called?) veils. I don't see the cage but why not just go with the flowers. Your dress won't miss a veil, it's a complete look without it.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. Simple fingertip or longer veils sound good (although, I love the look on mantillas, I have no idea if that would go with my dress though).
Funny story though, I asked my FI tonight for the first time what he thought I should do with my hair for the wedding (my idea- loose curly updo with flower hair pins). My FI's exact words: "I think you should wear it down. I don't understand why girls always have those crazy things with the big curly bun with flowers stuck in it." Hilarious.
Also, thanks for the compliments on my dress! :)
I had some initial second thoughts after purchase, but I don't want to be a 2nd dress bride! I have declared a moritorium on "Say Yes to the Dress" and looking at bridal magazines because it is so easy to see a picture and go "oh, that's pretty" which is 2 steps from "oh, god, is that prettier than MY dress?!"
GREAT dress!! I think the elbow or fingertip veil will be lovely for the ceremony. But if you want to jazz things up and really like the idea of birdcage, you could always switch into that for the reception! That would be fun for your guests to see the change and you could then get pictures both ways.
You are so right about watching too much SYTD and reading too many mags. It totally makes brides crazy and no wonder there are so many 2 dress brides among us!!!!

Hi everyone! So, this is my fabulous dress:
I think I hate the veil I am wearing in this picture, it was just the one the consultant put on me so I could get the whole "Bridal effect (and then cry, say "this is the one" and plunk down a bunch of money for it, which I did). What style veil would work best with this dress?
I was thinking a cage veil with my hair in a loose updo with some blue flowers pinned into it? (And sorry for the poor quality of these pics, but they are from my phone)
