I too, am unfortunately going grey at 26 and I started dying it myself instead of going to a hair stylist about a year ago. I go to Sally Beauty Supply and use their Ion line, as most salons actually use this when coloring hair. Ask one of the consultants there to help you pick out everything you will need the first time. I get the liquid instead of the creme color (as it is easier to use,) the developer, and use a bottle. Using this method, you can just dye your grey hair back to your original color without having to dye it all. I also find dying my hair makes it a bit softer, so that's an added bonus! The downside: I have noticed more grey hair to color, so every few months, I apply color to all of my hair, to make sure it is even. I use Redken Color Extension shampoo, and that really does make a difference in not having to dye as often. After a year of dying every few months, I have not noticed my hair becoming more unhealthy using the Ion dye.
P.S. I also have very dark brown hair and use the 3-N-3 formula of the Ion dye, and you can mix up as much or as little as needed using this product.
Curses, grey hair!

I am going grey! I have very dark brown hair, but over the last 4 years or so I have developed a grey patch....right in the front and center of my hair. It looks like Stacy's hair from What Not to Wear (only not as prominent as hers---you don't notice it in pictures but I notice it in person). I am considering dying it, but I don't want to shell out for a whole box of hair dye when I need to touch up only this little spot. Who would have thought I would have this problem at 25? :)
Do any of you know of hair dye I can buy in smaller quantities or that is for touch-ups? Do you have any tips on dying grey hair? (I hear it's stubborn to take dye, and I have very dark hair otherwise). Is there a solution for me or should I just live with it? Any help is appreciated!
