No. I'm getting my hair done at 9am for a 4pm wedding. Just make sure they spray the hell out of it.
That's what hairspray is for, lol. If you're going in with 4 other girls they will probably save you for last, so you have the "freshest" hair.
I'm freaking out about the same thing right now. My ceremony is at 7pm, but our hair appointments start at 1pm. I don't know whether to go first or last?
No--there's only two of us getting hair and makeup done and it's going to take 3 hours.
Stephin, I love you you've just taken my anxiety away.
Manda, you too!!
God, my nerves are so easily rattled these days!
Between my hair salon drama and Davids Bridal I feel like I'm ready to kill someone!
no way. as a stylist, i would also tell you 11am. a sound hairstyle, whether up or down, should last for two days!
My ceremony is at 4:30 but we're doing a First Look at 1:30. So may hair and makeup appointment starts at 11am.
Jenn, really? That is absolutely incredible!!
I cannot tell you the unprofessionalism of the salon I originally booked. They NEVER return calls/emails. You'd think people would be more concious of following up! I understand 24 hours but if I leave a message on Monday and then email on Wednesday and STILL haven't gotten a call back today? How am I supposed to feel confident in the salon I'm working with?!
You ladies have made my day, thank you so much!
i don't think that's too early at all! I have a 9:00am for a 3:00p wedding! It stresses the stylist out just as much as you and they want to make sure you look your best and they have plenty of time to fix anything you want fixed! And i think it helps them stress less if they know they have plenty of time, thus probably making them do a better job!
Hi date twin!
Hairspray is your friend. My hair stayed up for my trial for like no joke 13 hours - and that was through a 20 minute ride with the window down, sweating (why is it 92 today, doesn't the sun know it's September?), running around, walking in the mall. And the only reason it came down was because I started taking it down (couldn't sleep with it up).
I would definitely try to go with an up do though - just because some people's hair holds curl/style better than others. Oh and see how long the trial do lasts.
-Good luck it will all be okay!
I got my hair done at 2 pm for my 6 pm wedding. I was done at 4. My distances between salon, getting ready, and ceremony were short time-wise so factor that in too. Also depends on the type of hairstyle. I wore my hair down with tight curls and by 10 pm it was a flat mess. For a recent wedding I was in, I opted for a side updo and it didn't move. So there are a few things to consider.
@nskillet: that's terribly unprofessional and i don't blame you at all for canceling. i'm sure the other salon will treat you with more respect! :)
I'm so glad I started this thread, this makes me feel SOO much better.
I have been considering a 1/2 up 1/2 down type of do. However, I know myself and know I'm going to be a sweaty mess at the wedding dancing and everything.
The reason I'm leaning towards that style is because my fiancee absolutely adores my hair when its down and I literally NEVER wear it that way. I was thinking I could end up with a happy medium between the two.
What do you bees think?
Nope your good!
I got my hair started at 9:30am finished at 11:30am - ceremony at 5pm.
And my hair looked soft and romantic but it didn't move at ALL until I took it out at 2am!!!!!!
@nskillet: what is your natural hair texture and length? what are you going for? photos?
Jenn, I have long and thick curly RED hair. My everyday hair style is a very messy bun on top of my head because I have so much hair I don't even know what to do with it.
Once I blow dry it out straight it is usually excellent to work with.
Attached is the style I'm considering, at least its the front runner so far!
hairspray, hairspray, hairspray! i got my my hair done for my friend's wedding last year, the appointment started at 8 am and my hair still looked awesome the next morning. stiff as a rock, but you could only tell if you touched it. and my hair is fine and straight so the fact that it stayed in a curly updo for over 24 hours--well if a can of aquanet can do that, it can do anything!
Here is another I'm really fond of for an updo which is entirely different.
@nskillet: since you have natural wave in your hair, you definitely dont have to worry about it falling flat. i would either wash your hair the day before and let it dry naturally. since it's long and thick, it will be great to have it half up. id say you have nothing to worry about!

Hello Bees,
So, I've been having hair appt nightmares for my 10/23 wedding. The Salon I originally booked with has stopped returning my calls. Out of frustration I called and cancelled my appt with thtm for the date of my wedding and the trial beforehand.
Here is my main question. I booked with another salon but they want me to come in for 11am the latest for my hair appt. I'm going with 4 other gals so I figure this should take us some time to get through.
Question is, is this TOO EARLY for a 6:30pm wedding? I'm paranoid my hair won't look its best for my 6:30pm ceremony.
HELP!!
