So here’s the situation. My wedding ceremony is at 3 pm, about 30 minutes away (with traffic) from the hotel I will be staying at with my mom the night before. My BMs and I will be getting ready in the hotel. Ive already found a make-up artist to come do our make-up, but I’m fairly certain she said it will take at least 30 min for each girl and at least 45 min for me. I have 4 BMs and my mother and mother in law migt also want make up done. Since all this will be done at the hotel, I’m wondering if it would make more sense and be less stressful to have a hairstylist or two come to the room to do our hair as well. That way one can be getting hair while the other is getting make up, you know? Plus, my wedding is on Labor Day weekend so I imagine the salons will be busy already with back to school hair cuts. However, I’m kind of worried that we might feel super crowded in the room(s) with so many people. But, we can drink mimosas this way! Not sure what to do, especailly since I don’t have a hairstyllist picked out yet. My makeup artist can do hair, and I could ask her as well. What did you do and what would you reccomend?

I’m having my hair stylist and MU artist come to the hotel. I really want to be relaxed the day of and I know that if I have to deal with traffic, I’ll be stressed out. We’re getting ready at the same hotel that we’re getting married at so it will be nice to not have to leave the grounds at all.
I personally vote for the stress free option. Have the stylist come to your hotel.

We went to a salon and had both the hair stylist and the make-up artist there. We had 7 people each getting hair and make-up (including me) and we were probably there for 2.5 or 3 hours. Plus, I had 3 other BMs who were doing their own hair and make-up who just came to hang out with us.
We were able to bring in mimosas, fruit, little sandwiches, etc. We had lots of space to relax and chat and have a good time. The make-up artist and hair stylist were able to rotate us all though in a timely manner. My photographer was able to come and document everything.
I think going to a salon where you have tons of space is way easier than trying to cram everyone into a hotel room.

I went to the salon at 7:00 am. It was super close to my house where I was getting ready. It was nice to start the morning off in a calm environment away from the wedding craziness that was my house. Then I just had my makeup artist scheduled to come to my house and start about 30 minutes after my hair appointment. She actually came a little early and was all set up and ready for me by the time I got back from my hair appointment.
I think it would be nice to get out and let someone else deal with the space issues and cleanup. Have you thought having one stylist do your hair and having another take care of the maids. Or send your maids out to the salon (meeting you back for makeup) and have someone come to you for your hair? Basically do whatever is easiest for YOU. Don’t worrry so much about the maids.

I would love to have my hair and make up person come to the hotel. I think it would be so much more relaxing but there are 5 of us getting our hair and make-up done and in one hotel room that will be some serious space issues.
I think the upside of going to the salon is that they will have all the tools they need there plus lighting that they are used to working with. I don’t want any variables lol!
We are lucky that the hair/make-up salon is abou 1/2 mile from the hotel so it should all work out fine.

I’m going to have mine come to the hotel. I always sort of envisioned the day of my wedding being a fun and relaxed pampering time with some of my close girlfriends. After all that planning, I really don’t want to have to worry about anything or going anywhere. It will be one person doing both my hair and makeup and my bridesmaids’ hair, and she’ll bring her own lighting.

I’m very set on having my MUA and hair stylist come to the hotel. I just can’t be bothered with traveling to the salon, then the venue. Unless its financial concern, I’d say hotel is the best option.
