I haven't gone to a salon since I moved from Kansas 6 years ago because I can't trust people to do my hair so I understand what you are going through. I had a hair stylist once who promised she could do black hair- but ummm, no she didn't.
Are their any dominican salons by you? The reason I ask is because Dominicans have hair like ours and just use a round brush and blow dryer to straighten it. Google dominican hair wrap or salons to get an idea of how great your hair really will look. The girls at my school use Dominican salons so it has made me trust going to one. I'll post pictures on the Af-Am board after my visit in about a month

I am an african american future BRIDE and I'm looking for a GREAT stylists, in the OKC or LAWTON area.....
Usually I wear braids all the time but I dont want them for my Wedding day? I have very THICK, COARSE hair and was looking into getting a short choppy bob maybe like Tarj Henson
I have been scoping out a couple of salons here in my local town but I'm a lil apprehensive about letting someone else in my hair......
The last time I had my hair "Professionally" I use this term very lightly I ended up with 2 bald patches right in the middle of my hair that are just now Starting to grow back.... almost a year later :(....
