Hello, All! I have been using this website daily to get ideas for all the details of my upcoming wedding. I have one that needs some extra help!
HAIR-“To updo, or not to updo…”
I am getting married in January of 2011. I am getting married outside (Chilly) for a brief ceremony & then its indoors for the reception. I have the dress and the veil. They are both from David’s Bridal. The pics are below.
So, I am not getting the headband that the model is wearing, and I wanted to start the veil a little higher on my head. My sister thinks I should leave my hair down and my best friend and hair dresser say an updo would be best. My hairdresser doesn’t want it to fall or to become frizzy if it is humid…I flip flop over what to do. I have long, blonde hair (about 5″ longer than my shoulders. it is fine hair, but alot of it). Thoughts?

I know this isn’t particularly helpful, but…
What is your decor like for your reception? I always think that an updo looks more formal (although it can look casual), while I think hair down or half-down is almost always more casual.
Are you going to take the veil off for the reception? If you want to show off a particular updo, that could matter!
I don’t know where you live that it could be humid in January, haha!

I think an updo is a classier look. It’s also easier to control what your hair does throughout the day and night.

Yeah, I am guessing updo would be easier…and it might match the ceremony better. I normally like my hair curly & down, so it is hard for me to choose to have it up!!! Thanks everyone!

An updo might be a better choice 🙂

I just love how up do’s look. I always have my hair pulled back though.

Maybe part up and the rest down(like 1/2 or 1/3 or even 1/4 of hair up)? That can always look lovely.
I have naturally curly hair and it looks best down, so I am planning on wearing it down and in a headband or a barrette……….or if a professional can do a good job(I am usually only person who does my hair satisfactory) then I would have the do part up and part down for me……
For me, down is what looks best on me. I actually wear it back most of the time(don’t have time to deal with my curly hair) so this looks elegant down….to me, down would be classier(on me)……

Make sure your hair will hold up all day if it is down. My hair doesn’t hold a curl so it was not an option to leave it down. Good Luck and post some pics when you’ve decided!
