Or just go for your hair up like you want to! I don't think your neck is very noticeable at all, and when you wear that dress on your wedding day I doubt anyone will pay attention to your neck! They'll be too busy looking at your dress, the huge smile on your face and the joy in your eyes.
I have the same hump too! I wore my hair half up/ half down because of it.
Do you mind me asking what it is you have. I thought it was always a hump...but maybe it's actually something I need to see a doctor for?
@luli29: It can be caused by steroid use (in my case for bad asthma) but also by Cushings disease (which can be caused by steroid use like me or it can be caused by benign growths on your pituitory gland).
In any case - go get it checked out!
@doobedoo: eeeek! I don't use steroids...I guess I should check it out
I'd just wear your hair however you like it. Up or down doesn't matter.
From the title of your post, I was expecting something really unusual. But I'd not have thought "hump" just by looking at your picture; any hump is barely noticable. I've seen a lot of people who have that. I guess I didn't think of it as anything abnormal. You look fine. No one is going to notice it.
I have the same thing on my neck/back. Would you mind sharing what you have that causes that? Are there other side effects?
@doobedoo: I would hear your hair however you want. I doubt people will notice the hump! I looked at the picture for a good ten minutes trying to figure out what in the world a "buffalo hump" is, and honestly I don't think I would have noticed if I hadn't been looking for it.
I have a minor case of that too and I am petite. My mother has it as well. I think in some cases, its just a genetic feature. Unfortunately not attractive for updos - I have the same hair dilemma! For me I am doing the updo for the ceremony and taking it down for the reception.
@doobedoo:I have the same thing as you do on the back of my neck. I was very self-consious about it too. I wanted my hair up but eventually just ended up with it down. I actually am very happy I did it that way. This was the pic of my hair inspiration that I used. Note too that my hair is a little shorter then this girls and it still turned out good!
@luli29:Mine is a non-cancerous tumor with very hard tissue and a water base. I had an ultrasound done on it and then went to see a spinal surgeon. He told me he could remove it but it most likely would grow back. =/ Its really nothing but can be very annoying! I can never wear anything that ties around my neck without it bugging me.
EDIT: How do I make this smaller?!?
YAY! I am wearing gatsby too!!! And I also have a bit of a buffalo hump :(
This is the veil that I chose:
Im going to have my hair in a very loose, low chignon...with some delicate braids at the top, sort of like this (But with more/smaller braids). The hair is going to be low and loose enough to mask alot of my imperfections :)

That hump can be called a dowager's hump too, sometimes its just from poor posture or misalignment in your spine. If there's nothing wrong, try going to a good massage therapist and ask them to do fascial work to it, it'll hurt but if you're really wanting to get rid of it that will help! Also try to focus on tucking your chin in towards your chest and standing up straight. (Can you tell I'm a massage therapist? LOL)
@The Unsuspecting Bride: I agree. I doubt I would have noticed it had you not pointed it out. Wear your hair how you want it and be confident. I'm quite sure hardly anyone will notice or care.
I have one too...No ones ever noticed it on me before. But my mom and grandma have it also and have been in relativly good health their whole life
It's a stunning dress! I have the same hump thing and I don't like the shape of my hairline at the neck, though I think my dress looks better with an updo. My hair stylist suggested I have a few light curls 'escaping' at the base of the updo, a bit like this:

Since your dress is a vintage style you could also go for a low chignon that would sit over the bump, like this one:

But to be honest, it's not that obvious so go for whatever you like most!
I would wear your hair however you think you look best. Some people look better with their hair up and some are better down. I think either way is fine. I wouldn't have noticed.

I need hair advice!
Initially I had wanted to wear my hair up with a cathedral length veil....BUT, I have major issues with the top of my back, in particular the 'buffalo hump' that I have there (due to a rare condition I have). I'm really self consious about it and so am now thinking that maybe I should wear my hair down or half and half to hide the hump but I haven't seen any styles that inspire me.
My dress is the Maggie Sottero Gatsby in Ivory with Pewter accents - it is a vintage lace style and i'll be wearing it with the cap sleaves/straps.
I'll try to attach a couple of pics...the first is my dress and the second shows what I mean by 'buffalo hump' - neither are pictures of me, just ones I found on google but thought pictures explain it better than I can!!!
So, does anyone have suggetsions for my hair? Can I still wear a cathedral length veil with hair down or half and half? My hair is just below my shoulders in length and is wavy and average in thickness if that helps at all! I also have a side sweaping fringe/bangs (depending on what you call them in your country!)
I want something pretty but not over the top or princessy...
Any help would be amazing!
