1112bride:  I only had that problem after my DD was like 3ish months old. Basically what happens when your pregnant is it skips the “shedding” phase. That’s how I was explained. I was pulling out CHUNKS it was terrible. I would call. Your OB

1112bride:  It’s Fall- and Fall is a popular time for females, specifically to lose hair.

Do you have “falling hairs”- like a few at a time, or is it falling out in chunks or clumps?

I’m pregnant right now- second pregnancy- and I am not one of those people who gets luscious locks during pregnancy.  And my hair is doing what it’s normally doing during the fall– looking limp, sort of dry, and doing the regualr amount of shedding I expect it would be doing.

I do use high quality, super gentle shampoos and conditioning cleansers….which help.

1112bride:  My guess is- it’s the same thing as last year.  Not all people get the blissed-out pregnancy hair!  But not all people lose a bunch of hair after pregnancy either!!

I don’t have anything incredibly insightful to say except that I have also noticed significant hair loss near my forehead. I did some research and read that some people do lose hair during the first trimester, and then the loss usually stops until after pregnancy.

i have naturally thick hair, and the loss was obvious enough that my husband asked me if my hairline was receding. :-/

I’m 21 weeks in as well and I’ve noticed not as much loss as pre-pregnancy, but I did expect more “lusciousness”. My hair actually looks more straight (without blowdrying or anything). Too bad pregnancy doesn’t automatically get rid of the grays!!! The biggest change for me is actually that my scalp doesn’t get as oily as quick. I can go 3 days without washing it before I notice any oil.

1112bride:  Yes, I’m almost 7 weeks pregnant and my hair has been shedding more over the last couple of weeks. My hair typically sheds a lot anyway but since pregnancy it has been worse. My hair is also more oily than usual. I usually wash it every other day. Now by the following evening my hair is oily again.

1112bride:  I probably wouldn’t be worried unless you were losing quite a bit of hair.  Definitely bring it up to your doctor at your appointment.  My hair never looked spectacular, it always looked the exact same to me.  I did notice I didn’t lose quite as much hair, but I still lost some.  It’s awful 4-6months postpartum.  I am 6 mo pp and still losing handfuls of hair every time i brush 🙁
