My hair and makeup trial tis this weekend, and I really, desperately need some advice on how to wear my hair. We’re having a 1920’s vintage-themed wedding, and here’s my dress:
My hair is pretty long, and dirty-blond with some highlights. Here’s what it looks like on a good day (it’s ~4″ longer now):
Now here are the tough choices!!! If you’re still reading, bless your heart – sorry for all the pics!!
Option #1: Simple updo, no curls:
Option #2: Curled hair, pulled into a side bun:
Option #3: No curls, some braids, neatly pinned back in a twist:
Option #4: Low side bun:
Option #5: Slightly messy side bun, with a silver headband (matches silver beading on dress):
Option #6: Curled hair, braided into a low bun:
Option #7: Retro-style curled updo:
I’m planning on wearing retro-style makeup, like this – is this ok? –
Thanks a million!!!!

That dress is amazing! I love your choice of make up and I would chose Kate’s style (not because she is the “IT” girl right now) because it is very classic style.

Are you wearing a veil? Cause that would change my choice 🙂
ETA: Doh! Just saw that you are wearing your veil in one of the pics. Nevermind!
Your dress is to die for, and I don’t know if you can go wrong with any of your choices. Just depends how well your hair holds up (dependant on texture etc) and how your veil is going to be fixed?

Love the make-up choice! I would personally go with Option #1 or #3. Has more of a classic feel to me. Good luck!

@Mrs.SleepyKitty: Yup, wearing a fingertip-length raw-edge veil. I will probs take it off after the ceremony, though – I don’t really like feeling tulle on my shoulders 🙁

P.S. SO relieved to hear y’all like the make-up! Thanks!

That looks like Philly…is it?
@peachacid: Ya it totally does!! I grew up there, but the pic is actually in Central Park. Missing Philly now that you mentioned it!! Love that place.

@MsVoyageur: That picture looks SO MUCH like Rittenhouse Square…only Rittenhouse doesn’t have fencing like that.

Love the #3 option Im a bit biased I had a similar style for my wedding!
I looked at the pic and my first thought was its Central park and then I scrolled up and saw you are from TX and dismissed it I didn’t account for you visiting haha

I like low side bun and simple updo no curls for you.

All because of your theme (which I LOVE!) I voted #7!

I also think that #7 will go well with the theme of the retro/vintage look. Plus I think it will work well with your hair. Seems like your hair is pretty straight… the super curly might not work or keep the type of curl in #2. I tried that one and it was awful with my hair.
