I bought mine off Folica.com and used there top 10 guide. Mine is a Sedu and I am pretty happy with it. I wanted a CHI but it didn't have such good ratings.

Mine is a wet-2 style by remington and I think I got it at wal-mart for $20 and I love it!!! It has a curved plate which makes it easier to do flips and it doesn't leave that "crease" in your hair like some of the others do. I have really thick hair, but it still does a good job at straightening.

    Hope that helps!

I like ceramic flat irons. They get my curly hair really straight and shiny. I forget who makes mine...

I have a Revlon ceramic flatiron that does a pretty good job. My natural hair is a crazy afro and it does a good job of straigtening it. I forget how much it cost but I got it from CVS.

I thought CHIs were the best (I used to have one 'til my dog chewed the cord), but FMIL (who owns a salon) suggested a different one last time I got one. It's called a BaByliss (i just had to go check the box LOL) with titanium plates. It works like a dream!

I like the Chi big one that has the red stuff on it. And it's black. I have 2 of them! (I lived in a sorority house and one "mysteriously disappeared" for 4 months, so I had to buy a new one).

I have to go with the CHI on this one! Even if you don't get a CHI make sure you get one with the ability to control the temp! I have had ones in the past that just had an on off switch and would get way too hot for what I was wanting to do!

Mine is a Conair Infinity and it works so much better than the Hot Tools one I was using before that. I was concerned it wouldn't be that great because it was fairly inexpensive at Costco. It works great and had temp control and auto-off after an hour.

I have 2 ceramic HAI flat irons, one 1" and one 1.25" for straightening and curling my hair.  I have dropped them both multiple times, use them every day, always travel with them, and they're as good as new after 3 years.  They heat up in about 30 seconds and you can control the temp up to 400 degrees or so.  Highly recommended brand.

I use Babyliss as well... I actually have 2 of them. I have one from 2002 and a new one purchased this year. I actually like my old, bulky one better than my lightweight one, but both are awesome. I can get my hair straight & silky in a few minutes. I use my thin flat iron to get more style to my hair & sometimes I use it to curl even. Babyliss is the best because of the heat settings- they get twice as hot as other hair irons & therefore work a lot quicker.

I love my CHI straightener - my only *warning* is that mine does not have an automatic heat shut-off which can be dangerous - so be careful to make sure it is always cooled down and unplugged after you use it!

I have a CHI flat iron and I like it pretty well. I've dropped it, left it on...etc...and it's good as new after years of use. Any time I travel, and have to put it in the suitcase right after I flat iron, I always have to make sure to wrap a washcloth around it or another towel, because they stay hot for so long! It also heats up in like 20 seconds!

I generally wear my hair wavy/curly and in its natural state.  On special nights out I'll get it professional done and straightened.  My stylist uses the ceramic Chi.  It is awesome!  My hair is literally super straight (or as my stylist says, "white girl straight" - not intended to offend anyone, my apologies in advance if I have, just trying to give you an idea of how straight and shiny it get's my super thick and wavy/curly hair).

I have the CHI wet to dry and love it.  I had an off brand ceramic before that one and it was okay, but the CHI is awesome.  I have super curly hair when I put a little gel in it, but can have stick straight hair when I use my CHI.  Slate.com once did a rating of flat irons.  It was pretty helpful.

GHD is the best, they are pricey but worth it, they are all my hairdresser uses.

I'm with readytobewed, The Croc is amazing!  I have curly, wavy unruly hair and this straightener makes my hair pin straight.  When I go to south Florida in the summer and use it my hair never gets frizzy, and that's saying a lot!

FYI - They're sold on Overstock and Amazon... I've never seen one in the stores around here.

I love my CHI. My sister and I both have very thick, wavy (hers is curly) hair and people can't even tell after we use the Chi. $90 really isn't a bad investment when you use it everyday.

LOVE THE GHD! CHI's are great but I have been thru 6! They are warranted for a year and mine all seem to last just out of that range. Got a new "ghd" and it blows the CHI out of the water (if you ladies can believe it! never thought it possible to find a better flat iron!!) Its warranted for 2 years and is a little pricey, but in my opinion is WAY worth it! With a flat iron, it seems to me you get what you pay for...and if you're hairs as unruly as mine, this is a great investment! It makes my hair look so healthy and shiny!

I love my CHI.. I've used other "cheepy" irons from wally world, but nothing works like a CHI. My hair is thick and curly and it makes it super straight!

I bought my brand new CHI on ebay for only $60!
