Hey fellow Bees!
I just had my hair trial a few days ago, and after looking at the pictures and comparing them with the inspiration pictures I took with me I am very disappointed. I am supposed to e-mail the company back and give them feedback about the trial and I am trying to figure out what to say.
Please help me bees! Am I being unreasonable or does the style need to be fixed? (If so help me describe what is wrong with it!) My wedding is less than a month away and I am super stressed about this. Pretty hair is so important to me!
These are the finished product of the hair trial
Pic on the left is my inspiration pic, on the right is the my hair trial a few hours after it was done
Here is the back after two hours

I guess I don’t see what you don’t like. To me, it looks lovely and nearly identical to your inspiration picture! Maybe yours has slightly less volume on top, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Can you be more specific about what you don’t like?

Hmm…First, I think your hair looks lovely! Second, at my trial my stylist told me that she was just making sure that she had the shape right, and that on the actual day of it would be so much more pinned and sprayed to within an inch of it’s life, so perhaps take that into account. As for your disappointment, I’m not sure where it lies- did you want a little more height on the back? Or the curls to be a little more defined? Or a little smaller? Other than that, I think it looks so close to the inspiration! If any of those are the case, I would just let the company know in your email- they are both pretty easy fixes. And just drop in a line about how you know it was just the trial, but you want to make sure that your final style has much better staying power. Unless I’ve missed something, I would say take a few breaths, have some wine, and wait a day or two more before you send the email, so you can key in on specific changes you’d like to make. Good luck!

I like it. I think the top/sides like your bangs could be polished a bit more, but otherwise I think it looks good. What exactly don’t you like about it? Did you want more visible curls like the bottom left blond picture?

@MissWitty: It looks like the inspiration pic brides hair was roller set or curled all over and then pinned back. Your curls aren’t full or bouncy like the pic and it looks frizzy. I would tell them to deep condition my hair for frizz control, roll my hair with big rollers to create some body, and then create the updo/pin it back/up. The Stylist should have done a better job sculpting your curls and making them more defined instead of looking like a frizzy mess.
Another thing to consider is that the bride may have a hair piece on in the back.

Hey ladies! Thanks for the feedback! I guess I am just worried that it looks a little more bloby that I was hoping for. Defining the curls is definitley good advice. Im just afraid that it will look flat and fuzzy. It is an expensive service and I want to look polished!

I’d make it VERY clear to her that your hair started falling out of the style 2 hours in. That way, she’ll know that you need more pins for support.
I also think that she did a lovely job of recreating the style. The main different (as far as I can tell) is that the woman in your inspiration photo has smoother, more defined curls. I think the bride in your inspiration pick has a different hair type than you–so it isn’t going to look identical. However, you might ask her to use slightly more product to smooth out the frizzies and define the curls better…and it’ll look closer to your photo.

I think it looks fine. Hair trials are never supposed to look as good as the day-of. Hell, my stylist was going to take my hair down afterwards, until I told her absolutely not.

@MissWitty: I think something that may be tripping you up is the fact that the girl in the inspo pic has a lot more depth/variation to her hair color. A few highlights or lowlights might help the style appear less flat/bloby – to quote your description.

I think the curls from the inspiration pic look more defined because of the girl’s hair color. It looks like she has a lot of highlights or different dimensions of color (I am certainly not a stylist, so I have no idea of the proper terms), while your hair doesn’t have all of that different coloring. I mean, it can’t hurt to mention, but I think they did a pretty darn good job matching the pic you showed them! Your hair looks very pretty!

it looks fine to me, you have to also keep in mind that in the inspiration pic the girl has blonde hair which always looks shinier and reflects more light, if you want more of that effect you could add some highlights to your hair for more dimension.

You guys are so right! Highlights would probably do wonders for this look. Thank you! Making an appointment with my normal stylist as I type.

My hair was blown out, pinned up, taken down, pushed in the opposite direction and repinned, combed out, straightened a little and shellacked another way and repinned. So the hair is usually “exhausted” if you will… and then the stylist doesn’t apply all of the products they normally would use on your wedding day. It looks fine to me.

I think the first pics are very much like it…oddly enough I have the exact same picture for my trial lol….I do have a few pointers though… with mine it was similar but she pinned and sprayed the crap out of it (my trial) so I was doing everything and laying down and it was all in at the end of the night.
a) make sure you tell her to use a lot more pins and spray, but one question did your freshly wash your hair?? cause that makes your hair soft and it doesnt style as well. Wash your hair the day bfr the wedding but not the morning of, that will help with those flyaways in the last pic. (I get major flyaways when my hairs too clean)
The first thing she said to me was my hair will look not as “defined” because of hair colour!!!! Hers is blonde with darker shades integrated and im just straight brunette so she said the pieces and shapes etc wont look as…I dont know the word lol… but it seems the same with your hair.
b) the only thing I’d tell her aside from my point “a” is put a bit more volume in the crown area, Im doing that as well…. she said the trial was to figure out what I liked/didnt like…so if I want more volume, the bun area lower (I do) or to the side etc…. to go around all day…see how it feels, wears/doesnt wear in your case and make notes for the real deal.!!!
hope this helps

@MissWitty: some of the pics are very similar, but the 2 hrs later pic poses a problem.. I agree that the main thing to me is the hair color. The inspiration’s highlights make the hairstyle stand out. Also agree with comments that her curls are more sleek and defined, which you may want to explain to them. And of course they need to figure out how to make it last more than 2 hrs! But the side photos do look good! I think w a little tweaking it will turn out great!
