I think it depends on how long your hair is and what you want done.  I would overestimate on time because if you don’t like it, it may take longer to get it to be what you want.

I would tip on the trial because the haristylist is still using their time to do this for you.

@sarg88:  I would say at least an hour or an hour and a half.

Definitely tip them- it’ll get you better service on the big day.

Overestimate time…usually they try multiple styles until they get it just right. 

And yes, please tip. Your stylist may end up doing a lot of work for you tomorrow. PLUS, do you really want to irritate your stylist before he or she does your hair on your wedding day? Most stylists are professionals and would do a nice job, but I wouldn’t risk it. Plus, if you like the work he or she does, tipping is a nice way to show that.

At least a few hours and yes, tip them, they are taking time to do the trial where they would otherwise be making tips. It’s just like any other hair appt in that regard.
