I went to my hair trial today. I paid 90 bucks for my trial. The stylist took 2 hours and had other people come and help him. All I kept hearing was “My hair is soooo short” and there isn’t much they can do.
This is my hair, roughly:
What I didn’t want was a prom hairstyle. I was hoping for something like this:
I figured they could curl my hair them pin up the sides to get a modified version of this. They said NO.
I am honestly wondering if it is possible to go run out and buy some clip in hair extension and have them do something like this:
THIS is what I ended up with:
What do you guys think?
What should I do?
Does it look okay…is it just me freaking out (I have had a few weird moments leading up to the wedding)…should I get extensions? Should I just do it myself??!
I am supposed to fork out another 100 bucks the day of the wedding for my hair.

First of all, I think it’s dumb that your hair trial wasn’t included with the cost of paying for your wedding hair. That’s ridiculous!!! Some clip-in extensions might help. I actually think it looks really pretty! I’m sorry you’re so frustrated though =(

While I don’t think what they did is bad work, and it is pretty, it definitely is more prom-ish in my opinion. Especially compared to what you were envisioning (BTW, I love the pics you were going for…both pics you posted were ones I’ve chosen for my bridesmaids ). Did you let them know that it wasn’t what you were going for…or did you show them the pics? Maybe you can call them for another trial if they knew how unhappy you were. Again, I don’t think it looks bad, just really not what you were aiming for, and you shouldn’t have this as something that you’re worried about.

It honestly doesnt look bad but looks nothing like the photo you showed them! Maybe try somewhere else? I just did a friends hair for her wedding and it is the same length as yours, it is a bit short in the back but I think that style can be modified to suit your length TBH.
Hair extensions are a good idea though if you are really wanting something longer like your Carrie Underwood inspiration. I think that would look beautiful on you if you go that route and its better to be sure of what your hair will look like (and LOVE it) on your big day rather than just hoping your stylist can do what you want last minute.

Oh, and about the money…I had to pay $75 for the trial, and it’s still $160 for day of

how much should it cost, roughly? I mean, I don’t get a lot of updos but almost 100 bucks?!
PLUS another 100 on Sunday? I didn’t even want a trial, they kept insisting I should get one…I have never used extensions before, but willing to learn fast if I have to!

To be honest, your hair looks gorgeous like that. But it isn’t what you wanted and you shouldn’t settle for anything less. Maybe some extensions would help? I am sure that with a little tweaking, you can have your dream hair.

@misschickpea: Thanks! My hair is slightly longer now ( I can get it in a pony tail with 3 inch pony) so I wasnt worrying because I didnt think it would be this bad!!

I think if you want either of the looks pictured then you’ll want to go with extensions. Another option would be to find hairstyles of women with short hair. I do think your current length is the reason why it doesn’t look like the inspiration pics.

I find it funny that they couldn’t get the style that you wanted but were able to pin it back in basically what looks like a bit of a higher and tighter version of that style.
I like the style, it is a bit prom-like but it’s not bad! If you’re not feeling comfortable do you think you could find someone else for Sunday??

I think it looks so pretty!! But you don’t love it, and that’s what matters. If I’ve learned something about hair trials from these boards, it’s that I need to speak up at the trial appointment – right away – if I don’t like something.
Can you call her and explain that you weren’t happy and want to do another hair trial? Would she charge you?

I am not a fan of the trial, I’m sorry…I don’t understand why they couldn’t curl it and pin it like you wanted? Can you find a different hair dresser at this point?? If not, go back and say you are not happy and it is not what you want. They really SHOULD redo it for you.

@Lyndzo: Hey Lyndzo…if I am freaking out, just tell me. You said it looks okay…I like the updo, but had my heart set on something more sexy..loose…not so stiff and formal.
It also is kinda reminding me of my first bridal hairstyle 15 yrs ago when I got married at 21….lol
maybe that’s it. I was cool as a cucumber about this whole wedding until the beauty part came up..from my hair to my dress to my fingernails to my tanning…
I am wigging out over here…is this normal?

@fivemonthsnotice: I paid $130 for my hair & make up trial and I’m paying $230 for both on my wedding day. Just to give you an idea of prices in our area 🙂

Just to clarify, I did speak up…quite a few times and thats when other people came over to help…. I told him I wanted looser…he kept saying I couldnt because not enough hair…
I am confused because here is the hairstyle *I* did for my E shoot and my hair is longer now…I figured if it was half-pinned back it would kinda mock the Eva Longoria…
I just feel like I should go to prom. Like, right now.
