So I had a hair trial and left feeling confident about what I wanted to do with my hair. Then looked at pictures the next day and was utterly indecisive again.
I definitely am going for a vintage look. But vintage without being dowdy.
Pics from my hair trial (hair was done by a professional).
Updo with a different back (roll):
Could also add braids to the back, like a less messy version of this:
Here was my inspiration pic for this look:
I did this hair myself so it would obviously be a lot better styled with a professional doing it. Think Veronica Lake waves and not this mess that I concocted.
This actually might be a better assessment of how my hair will look curled when the pro does it (from my first hair trial):
My inspiration pic:
(But with looser waves).
This is my dress:

@RexManningDay: I voted for an updo, and actually love both. It has a very vintage/1920’s glamour feel to it, as does your dress. I think having your hair down would cover the insanely pretty dress you’re wearing.
PS. I love your username. It made me laugh because I haven’t thought about that movie in forever!

I think your hair would look lovely out with that dress, but I think with the headpiece you chose it would look better in an updo. I am not a huge fan of the first style, but the twist roll and the braids I love!

I’m in love with that first updo. Your dress 100% suits an updo better!

I think the updo looks GORGEOUS with your headband. I like both rolled styles better than the braids.

I like the up with the braids!

I definitely like your hair up, and I prefer the style shown in your first photo (I’m guessing this is the wide back?)

I love the wide back! Goes with your vintage theme. I think the side swept hairstyle would take away from your gown.

where did you get your headband?

@RexManningDay: wait wait wait, what about the cap veil?
First Up Do.
Hands. Down. The roll is pretty too but not too fond of the braid as much.

@MASPA: Oh, this is the sadness. Basically: unless I want to wear the cap veil all night, I can’t do it. It would be pretty impossible to take it off and keep the headband on without completely destroying my hair. So I’m probably going to have my mom modify it into a regular drop veil that will just comb into my updo. I’m sad about it!

I really like the roll on you! 🙂

@RexManningDay: whattttt? Really? Noooo My veil clipped right in. Granted my hair did get destroyed from everyone pulling it but I dont think it would have happened otherwise. If you did the side sweep, could you do both and not risk destruction? I hate to admit it but I really like the updo. And Im pretty side biased since I did that for myself.
Option #3: Wear veil for ceremony and hairpiece for reception?
IT IS SO SAD!!
