@MsGinkgo:  I had her come to us, and so glad I did. It was comfortable. We could chill, sip mimosas, it was quiet and relaxing.  Wouldn’t do it any other way.

I had the hair and make up stylists come to the house, all the girls came over the morning off and we hung around, had coffee and got pampered. I felt it was best so we were not rushing around trying to make it to appointments on time, and it allowed for the photographer to come and get some ‘getting ready photos’ (obviously after we had all had our hair and make up done but not before we got into our dresses).

I am going to their salon. Mine charges travel fees so by going to her, I save a bit. Also, my venue doesn’t have strong ac in the dressing rooms (its an island) so id rather sit in air conditioned comfort and so that she has all of her tools, products, etc.

@MsGinkgo:  I had our make-up artists and hair stylist come to us and it was a wonderful experience. We all got to relax in the large suite, eat lunch together and have a worry free day. We had to pay a minor traveling fee for both but it was worth every penny.

@MsGinkgo:  Mobile Bridal Beauty, it worked to around $200 per bridesmaid & then $400 for myself (airbrush, hair & make up for myself & hair and make up for my bridesmaids).

I think it is easier to have someone come to me, so that is what I am doing.

Since it is just me, it is costing me a goddamn fortune but that’s another story 😀

@TorontoBride2be:  I looked at them, but I found an amazing make-up artist who doesn’t do hair. So, I booked her. Then I had to book hair separately. That was FUN.

They will have no choice to come to us, because we’re 30 minutes away from the city and FI and I won’t sleep home the night before the wedding. 🙂

Kind of both — the dear woman who did my hair is the mother of my very close friend. They have a beautiful house near the wedding venue, so they offered to have us all get ready there (the venue was outdoors and didn’t really have much in the way of a dressing room). While my bridesmaids were getting ready I got to relax in her downstairs studio and drink mimosas 🙂

Loved how it worked out and wouldn’t change it… but I think otherwise it really depends on the distance to the salon (are we talking 20 minutes extra for travel, or 2 hours?) and cost of having them come to you (sometimes they’ll travel for free as part of their price, others it can cost nearly twice as much)

Good luck in whatever you chose!

@MrsPanda99:  haha that must have been a pain! That was why I went with a company that does both, I didnt even look for anyone who did it seperately. But I also know nothing about hair or make up so I didnt look around much.

We will be having the hair and makeup artists come to us.  I think it will be easier because everyone will already be there.  When a friend of mine got married a few years ago we did the in-salon thing, and the stylists were running late so we were running late and so she ended up being late to her own wedding. It was just a fluke…but still enough to be like nope..i’d rather have them come to me

She’s coming to me. She’s a friend as well as my long-time hairdresser, so she’s also coming to the pre-wedding brunch and the wedding itself.
